No matter how much they tell you it's not "pay-to-win": When one player grinds for a couple of days to achieve a certain ability or item, while another player just pays money to receive the same ability or item - that's pay-to-win. And since Dust is linked to EVE Online, this decision by CCP damages both games.
Brendan, I just want to say that I strongly dislike the ideas in your article. MT/F2P/Freemium is an evil that has to stop. Turning videogames into casino games is the worst thing that has happened to MMO culture. Just because a large part of the industry is going that route does not mean it's right. CCP lost a lot of my respect for planning to put microtransactions into Dust and World of Darkness. I hope they learned their lesson from last years protests.

Games or virtual worlds that allow me to be creative (Minecraft, Second Life, OpenSimulator based worlds etc.) are far superior to me. Glitzy, voiced-over, multi-million dollar Star Wars title my a**.
