"place players in segregated tiers based on their number. Each tier will comprise all players within a certain number range, and players will only be able to group with, talk to, or see other players in the same tier as themselves"
Anyone else have to fight off a faceplam moment when they read through that article? So, now my MMO is going out of it's way to ensure that I have *less* player interaction, eh?
"Any negative repercussions of these changes will be offset by the satisfaction you’ll receive knowing your equipment is significantly more impressive than average."
Totally. The fewer people I can have any interaction with must mean I'm good at the game then. Who needs friends when you have epic lootz.
"Or maybe -- and this is far-fetched -- you've been discriminated against solely because of your lackluster gear or less-than-optimal character build."
Actually that's the only type of discrimination I've ever experienced personally. :/
I've never had anyone insult me for what my character looked like, what the name was, or anything I said. But I HAVE had people go "Looolool Noob, you don't have -insert drop here- so you OBVIOUSLY suck. L2P Scrub."
I didn't realize that not running the same raid every day to get a drop meant I'm automatically worse at the game then you. :|
This reminds me of a story I heard a while back about some guy who was playing Counter-Strike, and knifed some other kid. No big deal right? That's part of the game. Yeah, not for him. He get's his E-Killer's IP traces him to his house and stabs him in the heart so "He could know how it feels."
I mean, if people are so unstable that they'd do that over a game of CS, imagine what they'd do for a game where they very possible could have spent YEARS playing?
Now I don't know if it's a true story or not, but I'm sure if someone wanted to they could do exactly that.
You must not like the IP all that much then, if you want it to fail that bad.
If you did, even if you weren't interested in the game, you'd probably at least want it to do well enough to warrant more people being interested in making 40K games.
If the MMO flops EPICLY what're the odds we'll see another 40K game soon?
I can hazard a guess, and that wouldn't be anytime soon.
I think some people read the words : " WoW " and " Friendly " and jumped to a conclusion with really, no info.
WoW friendly could mean any number of things. Maybe they ARE going to be a WoW clone with a 40K skin and doom themselves, but I don't think they're that stupid. Or maybe he's simply saying that the interface is gonna make WoW players feel right at home. You really don't know, no point in going "RABBLERABBLE I'M NEVER GOING TO PLAY THIS GAME! RAGE!"
