Flameseeker Chronicles: What's your golden carrot?

Apr 5th 2012 11:23AM (Massively)
Just have a dungeon-specific mob drop a weak wand with a frog on the end and players will grind that dungeon ad infinitum!

I'm looking at you, ridiculously expensive Frog Scepter:

I agree with most of the posters here, no 10 is the main one. It is also the only one that has me most annoyed when playing F2P.
I really like Grand Fantasia, but most of the items in their store are "mystery prizes" and most dresses and weapon-skins are "either 3-days or permanent" when you buy them.

Which is point 11 on this list, don't go for the rented space or items. Atleast the storage bags in Grand Fantasia are permanent. Rented items are really annoying.

Flameseeker Chronicles: We don't need no stinkin' endgame

Jan 23rd 2012 10:47AM (Massively)
@Ehra Exactly this. There are a bunch of dungeons already revealed in the game. And when you go back there with your lvl 80 asuran elementalist you get bumped down to a suitable level.
And these dungeons will evolve both depending on what choice you make going in there, but also through random events.

It won't be like running into the same dungeon for the tenth time to get that specific drop you MUST have to be able to the next dungeon two hundred times to get THAT specific drop you MUST have.

You will want to go back to the "dungeons" in order to get that specific look of armor or find out what happens if you go a different way.

And then we have the huge, everchanging world with hidden locations and events you couldn't see the last time you were there. And since, well atleast according to what Arena Net has said, we will have our capabilities lowered to make all areas challenging, there is a huge "endgame" and "raidsystem" there.

Just imagine getting a few guilds together and have 50-100 players attacking one of the dragons just for fun.
No need to team up or anything, just get a whole bunch of people together in the open world and play. There's your 100-man raid. ;)

The Daily Grind: Should characters always be wiped from beta to launch?

Dec 9th 2011 8:36AM (Massively)
As the game is not complete until after beta (we have to assume there are bugs and imbalances being handled during beta), and the entries to the game is not depending on who wants to join but who is chosen to join.
So a wipe seems like the best idea.

We've got more Wakfu closed beta keys for you!

Thanks. I'll try this as well. :)

Guild Wars 2 Norn week continues with new video and developer interview

I want to roll an asura that wants to live like a norn. I wonder if that's going to be possible.

The Daily Grind: What's the most ridiculous microtransaction you've seen?

Jan 18th 2011 6:51AM (Massively)
Besides Guild Wars I play Grand Fantasia, mostly for the gameplay actually being fun at times which is more than I can say about most F2P I've tried.
But their cashshop is terrible, the inventory bags are ok, low priced and permanent, but their armor and weapons are sold in packs that may or may not contain what you are after. So, besides having to pay for the sword-skin you want, you have to be lucky, otherwise you get some pointless EXP boost.
So, I buy a bag now and then to extend my backpack, but that's it.

Having to rent stuff that are not even physical objects must be the best businessplan ever invented.

And yeah, I buy Guild Wars costumesets, but that's more out of showing appreciation for a game I've played X number of thousand hours for free. ;)

Flameseeker Chronicles: Why is the lore of Guild Wars so important?

Jan 18th 2011 5:31AM (Massively)
I love the storytelling in GW. And I feel that in GW2 with the personal storyline alongside the persistent world I will get the feeling of a huge, living world and still have the story to back it up.
It will be the best of two worlds, at one hand I get to run around and help farmers and quaggans and stuff in their everyday, but when I want to, I have an epic and storyheavy arch with me as the main protagonist.

I've tried WoW on several occassions (mostly due to having friends and a sister that are WoW addicts), but it felt like I just ran around doing stuff that didn't matter. There was no continuous story that kept me interested in the small "get me 1000 claw of pigbear" quests.
I may have missed the big picture, but it wasn't for me.

As for NPC race history and social development, please give us more! Now that we know races have their own lives and preferences, they're not just bad or good, it will be interesting to see the finer points on skritt life and perhaps hear why we sometimes anger grawl but not always.
Perhaps we'll get the answer on the question from GW1: What is the relationship between charr and grawl? Do they keep them as food?

And is there anything we want to know about krait? They're malevolent and apparently turned insane by the dragon in the water. I say, SLAY THEM ALL! ;)

Free for All: Why I play free-to-play

Aug 19th 2010 1:52AM (Massively)
I've tried a lot of "F2P" and the one I still play is Grand Fantasia. The graphics could be a bit more mature, I'm an avid Guild Wars plauer as well, but the gameplay is structured in a very fluent way. There is some grind, but nowhere near that I found in WoW.

And I rather pay 10 dollars a month for the occasional fluff-dress than feel forced to pay 15 dollars just for the privilege of starting the game on an off night.
