EVE Online declares war (more efficiently)
Mar 30th 2012 4:15AM (Massively)I don't think CCP regards small corps being war-deced forever as a problem to be honest.
It's probably not what solo corp mission runners would like to hear, but they're not really an asset to the game outside of being blown up.
The Mittani gets hit with ban and resigns in wake of EVE Online controversy
Mar 29th 2012 4:17AM (Massively)The Mittani gets hit with ban and resigns in wake of EVE Online controversy
Mar 29th 2012 2:44AM (Massively)I mean, your agenda is obviously to bash on CCP regardless, but the kind of behaviour in question is actually not that bad when you look at what's happening around the internets every day.
People become royal bastards once they're able to flame from the safety of their homes.
The Daily Grind: When has an MMO made you feel least like a hero?
Dec 25th 2010 8:17AM (Massively)But you're referring to a quest where you go through felhound droppings to find the keys for some goblins shredder. Sure it eats the hellboars you kill before it takes a shit, but it seems pretty damn silly to rewrite what actually happens when you're even linking directly the quest.
Honestly it seems likely you never did the quest and didn't even bother to read the 3 lines on wowhead. :p
EVE Evolved: Does EVE make players better at other MMOs?
Dec 13th 2010 4:26AM (Massively)If you join a corporation and the various newbie help channels right when you join the game you'll barely notice the game has a learning curve at all because you'll be able to get all the answers you want from the players in that corporation. If you however solo around without ever really talking with anyone the learning curve is going to hit you like a brick wall.
However it's not just the learning curve that's geared towards group play it's also much of the gameplay itself. None of the content I partitate in (0.0 exploration, pvp and wormholes) is truly profitable if you solo, and eve-online doesn't really have any good tools for finding random groups, well perhaps the faction warfare channel but not beyond that.
So perhaps eve-online is prone to attract socially active players who enjoy grouping but since both somethingawful and 4chan have corporations I think it would be a mistake to think of all of us eve-players as patient and mature. :p
EVE Evolved: Does EVE make players better at other MMOs?
Dec 12th 2010 6:23PM (Massively)Having played ultima online and asherons call for a few years and a few months of shadowbane before picking up eve-online I've never really thought back to eve-online in later MMOs. Sometimes I'm annoyed I can't type in the name of an item/zone/character and have the game link it for me, but beyond that, not really. :p
The Daily Grind: What are your MMO regrets?
Dec 10th 2010 6:00AM (Massively)I regret not having killed more people in ultima online before leaving for asherons call.
I regret joining r30 in shadowbane, the larger the zerg the fewer the targets.
Second part of EVE Christmas present revealed -- the Echelon
Dec 10th 2010 5:52AM (Massively)However the Primae hull did become a real ingame ship with uses, so I'm going to hold off judgement on this one for a while.
Second part of EVE Christmas present revealed -- the Echelon
Dec 10th 2010 5:49AM (Massively)Really? Because there's been a constant 10+ contracts in jita going for around 10-15mil since it released.
Heck the zephyr is still worthless and that's years old, and actually merits use since sleepers don't shoot it.
Ask Massively: Cataclysm and other dead horses edition
Dec 10th 2010 5:45AM (Massively)Coming from eve-online I've rarely seen anyone start out by highlighting features they dislike when they tell others they play it. Maybe it's because eve-online is generally considered cool but it just strikes me as odd that you rarely see anyone talk about enjoying world of warcraft without also seeing them defend the reason they play with some form of "despite all these awful things" argument.
Kind of silly really considering we're all just playing what we find the most fun. :p
