Khitai's insane grind drove me away from this game, I was having great fun until that expansion came along.
No matter how pretty it is or well designed it's instances, making me grind thousands of repeatables for even the smallest of rewards is just rediculous and far worse than anything else on the market at the moment.
Unfortunately most games don't have the graphics required for cutscenes or telling of a compelling story, not everything is up close and personal. I mean it'd be difficult to use in-game graphics for cutscenes and story orientated trailers in Starcraft 2...
I think both have their place, but no game should ever only have CGI trailers. If the company isn't willing to promote the game on it's in-game graphics as well as the CGI, then they are trying to hide something and that is a real turn off for me.
Can't believe you all missed the simple fact that here we have a CEO of a game developer that not only knows the finanical side of the business but also knows what the gaming industry is and how it works.
Every developer works on investment, the much lauded Turbine before they were purchased by Warner, used other people's money to make their games.
There is no such thing as a self-financed MMO developer, they all use someone elses money to some degree.
Well, not that surprising I guess, though K2 aren't renowned for providing a good service. I just hope they actually bother to open some servers in Europe, otherwise it would be pointless for me to even try and play it again, regardless of what they do with it.
Well MGM themselves just went bankrupt, so I wouldn't be surprised if they off loaded the license to another company now, one that might know what to do with it.
When the server was up and running I spent quite a bit of time testing it, and I have to say it is by far the worst MMO I've ever had the mispleasure of testing in the last ten years.
I sorely hope that MGM don't give them back the license, I'd rather have no Stargate game than a bad Stargate game.
Their test server has been insane, packed at all hours of the day, massive queues and their GM events have been just mental fun.
I have to admit that I stopped playing LOTRO a long time ago, but it has been a blast to see the Codemasters staff go crazy and get involved with the players, both in spawning monsters and participating in PvP, even just chatting to players about anything and everything.
Not seen such a friendly approach from MMO staff before, its a refreshing change to the silence you normally get from such companies.
