Really love this game. Gladly resubbed (upped sub from monthly to a 6-month) for Ember Isle and more.

RIFT lore details Kelari High Priestess Anthousa Mona

Oct 27th 2011 12:02AM (Massively)
1)Anthousa Mona is cool. I want to run a Chronicle with her and she can shoot magical power or somethin at monsters. I love the 'vain but kickass' types in games and media :)

2)Looking forward to Ember Isle.

3)Looking at that first picture makes me embarrassed. Trion, update your horrible high elf and Kelari NPC models. Anthousa looks good, player models look good, but the kelari NPCs look so strange and ruin every quest hub I go to with them in it.

GOOD NEWS IS that Ember Isle, from the PTS, seems to have updated models. Wooo!! :D I like the Kelari look - its just that the 'recolored Heroes of Telara models' are lame and always were. Bring in the true Kelari!

@(Unverified) Absolutely. Thank you for your comment.

PvPers and Raiders bring word of mouth buzz to a game (even if it is negative, it helps the game in some small way). But that's it. When I play, there's players all over the game, and they are either in instances or in the open world, NOT in the 'capital fortresses/basillicas'. There's a lot to do when you don't restrict to a specific gamestyle, and Rift is always expanding in this.

For me, the worst thing is the Rift is truly a 'game' and not a 'world that is a game' - the 'gaming' aspect is very transparent in the development of Rift. However, they work enough for immersion that I can somewhat forgive this, and I still have a blast with others. On to Ember Isle! (looks beautiful)

@Ren54 Um... Ember Isle isn't a continent. Is IS however a beautiful new zone that I just spent a couple hours touring yesterday :). Go Kelari.

@Spacegrass Pt 2.

I guess my point is that if you're going for any sort of squishyness at all and don't have at least one other player with you, you have to go through the zones with the same pet model as everyone else. And that is sucky. My pyromancer NEEDS an earth elemental or undead. My Marksman NEEDS a boar (the best example of needing a pet that you hate, actually). Only clerics and warriors have any break, but most warriors would be silly to not have a cat with them for more dps, and most clerics would be silly not to have the lesser faerie with them for more heals.

@Spacegrass Because I HAVE TO.

As my new rogue Marksman/Riftstalker (Riftstalker for mobility, which I love, and alternate physical abilities if I really need to use them) I'm pretty much boned in solo PvE without the stupid pig pet. So.. Ranger has to be my 3rd soul, with the stupid pig pet, at least at my current level of 10.

As my main Lv 50 pyromancer, I have to put into Elementalist to get a Greater Earth Elemental. The only other working souls to go with it would be Chloromancer (sucks if you're trying for a 'character theme' - everyone is bloody Chloro), or Archon (only works well for groups), Necromancer (another pet!)....

It's frustrating. If they wanted us to depend on pets so much in solo PvE, they should have had a proper taming mechanic so we don't see attack of the boar/car/fairy/undead/elemental clones... I'd love to as a beastmaster tame the scorpions in Shimmersand, or as a druid tame some of the other fae in Silverwood and Moonshade Highlands, or as a necromancer go ALL OUT finding mobs to tame in Stillmoor (and Freemarch, Gloamwood, Scarlet Gorge, Scarwood Reach, Moonshade Highlands..).

(and I'm a Rift LOVER btw)

Trion announces Red Door publishing and development platform

@psycros Um:
1)These games were always in development alongside RIFT. Rift was just the one to launch first. EoN will likely be next year, and Defiance in late next year or 2013.

2)Putting the tools up isn't 'for sale'. It seems to establish Trion as a pseudo-publisher.

Enter at Your Own Rift: A party guide for the fashionably late

@(Unverified) Any good big raid will have a mage Chloromancer, or a cleric tank, etc - its just that their needs is far less (so just one of them each in a 20-man), but that they do give some worthwhile help to a raid.

One example is the Mage Archon, which tends to buff you (just you) up, while weakening the enemy. It's like a warlock (along with dots) but more about the idea of 'stealing strength' from another. In a 5-man, this isn't really needed since you kill enemies so fast, but in a raid, 1-2 archons are really nice to have since they allow the party to deal a degree of more damage. :) You're not pure DPSing (as the idea of mage tends to go), but you're still doing good in another role.
