Chris Cao spreads the love for the next DCUO update

Feb 2nd 2011 4:49AM (Massively)
So quick question I hope someone can help me with. I used a friend's buddy key, and there's a disclaimer in the fine print that I MAY lose any time included in certain boxes. Can anyone speak to losing their 30 day trial?

Would love to keep my toon from the trial, but I do have a second station account I used for the beta just in case. Thanks in advance.

My favorite character in the beta was a Hand blaster/Fire based villain named Darklance. Had a lot of fun with him.

The Daily Grind: Where are all the sports MMOs?

While both EA and 2k keep putting out their Maddens and NBA 2k?s, there's not much point in developing a fully fledged sports MMO.

So I'm glad you enjoyed your time for the most part.

FYI a tweeked ground combat system will be the next major overhaul the game is getting.

Haha! Love that Massively's typical Cryptic Hate Club is going crazy. Gratz STO!

Captain's Log: Spending time with the Foundry beta

Dec 17th 2010 12:43AM (Massively)
There's no reason to really farm or grind in STO outside of Emblems from dailies, so set up a mission where you kill all you want. It'll turn out to be not much different then spending the same amount of time in B'Tran doing explores(without getting marks for emblems for your time).

The foundry doesn't allow you to assign any specific loot, though random chance for a drop is the same as it is for anywhere. Yes, I believe you get the same xp/skill points from killing the mobs as you do any other, equal level mobs, but honestly, leveling in STO is a breeze.

Honestly, I don't see any real way, after spending about 10-15 hours working with it, where it could be used to actually exploit the game.

So what the Foundry will be is a nice little distraction, a tool for RP, and for Fleets to organize events around. It kinda harks back to a previous Capt Log, it may not make STO a sandbox, but it puts a little beach next to the water rides (Fluidic Space?) we can mess around with our own little ideas for a while.

One thing I have to say about being in the beta is the screenshots don't do the game justice AT ALL. The graphics are gorgeous.

Naga + Nostromo n52 is so ftw :D Don't know how I played MMOs without them.

Friday Livestream: Vindictus [Updated]

I've been playing over the past 2 days, and have been having a blast. I've gotten a Fiona to 10 even with all the instabilities. As noted, the gameplay is great, and I'm intrigued with the mechanics, especially after a few boss battles ending with my armor in tatters.

They've done a great job with the Source engine, and the shiny on the characters, NPCs, and the destruction physics are impressive. On the other hand, I'm having Counterstrike flashbacks from the dungeon environments of the Perilous Ruins.

I'd also love to see what they could have done with a full world environment, and I wonder how long till I'm sick of the town/lobby and dungeon system.

I think this will keep me good for a long while on a desire for sword and fantasy action, as more scifi MMOs are released in the future, especially that it's ftp.

I'd suggest everyone to give it a try, if you can get a key. The tutorial itself is great, and a must do experience.
