User created content is the way of the future. I really hope more games do this type of stuff. I know that SWG and ST:O do it, but I hope new games will have this more frequently.

I'm an avid Star wars fan, I live and breathe Star wars. I played SWG and was in love with it (before NGE). I love all of Bioware's games, and am a super huge fan. Combining the two must be magic on the scale of pure awesome.

I came into SWTOR with the understanding that story and game play take the forefront of the game. That they would be doing something different and exciting. This is the next generation of MMO's after all.

After playing about 10-12 hours leveling, engaging in dialog, and questing; I've come away unimpressed and let down. The game is basically the same MMO that we have been playing for 6 years with the only thing new being you get some VO and dialog interaction. I guess companions are a evolution but hardly a core mechanic that revolutionizes the genre.

I was severely let down by the first 30 minutes of the game. You create your character (with a paltry amount of customization). You are then treated to a fly in, in game cut scene, a bland glitched dialog with jerky movements and objects and cloths clipping into the body, then you get your first mundane quest. Ohh no not holo projectors!? Your second quest is find 6 padawans. Booooorring

So in the first 5 minutes of the game I get my first collect 4 things, click on 6 things, kill 15 things quest. Utterly bored in the first 5 minutes. There's no life, there's no excitement, there's no awe. It all seems uninspired.

The combat animations are stiff and there doesn't feel like there is any connection with the object your fighting, the flow from one animation to another (one ability to another) is very jerky. The character doesn't naturally flow from one animation to another.

I will say I enjoy actually engaging in dialog with my NPC's i think it's pretty neat. However this one difference / addition to the same stale game play we have been playing for countless years is not enough to hold a captive audience.

The problem is the game is catering to the lowest common denominator, the WoW crowd; because that's where they think the money is. If WoW did it, we can to by following the same thing, but oh lets make crafting different, add social interactions with a companion, and make all the NPC's interactive and VO'ed.

It's just not enough for me, which is a let down because I was hoping that this game was it. Finally a SW game done by the game company I love, they will evolve and iterate on the genre in new and exciting ways that makes this game something I can enjoy and be enthralled in for years to come.

Instead I came away Unimpressed and Bored.

What I'm saying is I expected Bioware to do more. I wanted it to BE a Bioware game. I expected it to be of the calibre that ME, DA, KOTOR, NWN was. Engaging, enthralling, exciting, other E words. Maybe its because its Bioware Austin and not Montreal?

But yes, take away "starwars", take away any preconceived notion and SW fanboyism and the game is rather uninspired in my opinion. That's just my opinion, you may not agree but to each his own. I do hope that this game does well and that all the players that really love the game have a happy time with it. Different strokes for different folks.

I guess I expected something like what Rift did, take the genre and the tropes of WoW, and take each piece and evolve it a bit. Improve on the class system and make it unique, make the zones dynamic, make raids unique and dynamic. I just didn't see it. Maybe its there and I just didn't look hard enough.

I want big space battles that matter, not an arcadey mini game within the game. I want ground wars like in the republic cinematic where the city changes and is dynamic. I want the efforts of the players to change the outcome of a macro event. Maybe I was expecting this to be Rift or GW (dynamic world) but set in the SW universe

I'll give the game another go when they do a free trial or something, maybe my preconceptions clouded my judgement

I just wanted to leave constructive critisizm for the Bioware guys that is partly objective. Maybe they will see a couple of posts like mine from others and say, "you know what, lets fix that annoying clipping", or "the animations need one more iteration b4 launch." Maybe even, you know "Lets rewrite the Councilor starting area to be more entertaining."

Beautiful engine, great use of colors. So far liking what I see. The only caveat I see is animations. :23 the walking animation is pretty gnarly, little kids strides are gliding 8 foot strides per step.

All of that can be fixed in beta and with further tweaking, but I'm liking what I see most definitely.
