Alganon re-release: worth all the hype?

May 6th 2010 3:04AM (Massively)
Hello Rryja. I read your forum posts over at the Alganon forums and I was following the Tribute Adjustment thread that your comments were in.

I'm sorry you ran into the same wall (Dereck Smart/BeaverBandit) that others of us have also crashed into. If it isn't sunshine and Barney songs you're posting you'll probably be wise to just not post at all. Unfortunate but true these days. Any sign of negativity and you'll find the wrath incurred unpleasant, uncalled for, and unfathomable. I like un words ... like un-cola.

Anyway I hope you have fun in the game at least.

Just Me,

Alganon re-release: worth all the hype?

I posted the following over on MMORPG General Discussion about Alganon in the Not A Bad Game thread and thought I post it here. I really would like Alganon to succeed and grow. So any way:

Quote:

I found the game "fun" in december and before and during the beta and open beta.

I found the game "fun" as I leveled up 4 characters on Adrios to 40+. I found the game fun as I leveled all 8 craft options to 250.

What I don't find "fun" now is the grind to level 50 cap. What I don't find "fun" is the fact that this is still basically a solo-online-rpg as the player base is still below 100 total players across 3 servers at any given time of day.

I don't find it much "fun" that there is no high level content or end game content for solo players.

I still log in. I still occasionally play for up to an hour at a time - grinding. So I wait and watch and hope for more. I guess it's just human nature.

Just Me,
Tim

Alganon re-release: worth all the hype?

Yes. What Pollypocket says.

I have one quest in my logbook at level 42. There are others on either continent that are locked to me (maybe 5 total) until probably level 45.

I have 6 instance based quest in my log book also.

I was just on the server (Adrios-Human faction) with a total of 20 players online at this time. One Gm level 50 Neb - myself at level 42 ranger - and the rest mostly level 1 to 20 with a few level 20 to 40 thrown in.

So what to do .. what to do??

Log out.

Alganon re-release: worth all the hype?

I think everything stated by Pollypocket is spot on. I just wish he could post it on the forums over at Alganon.com.

It seems like everything posted there these days are sugar and spice and joy to world. Anyone one with a differing view can hit the road Jack.

And that saddens me to no end as I still love the game and wish it success, but how can you improve something when you are not allowed to talk about it's problems. Oh well. I hope the Dev's there are getting a paycheck and aren't selling pencils on street corners.

That first line above should have read:

There were several places - interviews etc. where it was stated that there was "no" need for a player to have to use the cash shop/tribute system.

Sorry..but I'm old and sometimes my mind does better at typing then my fingers.

I just wanted to comment on the Tribute/Cash Shop.

There were several places - interviews where it was stated that their was need for a player to have to use the cash shop. That not doing so would not effect game play or your ability to play/have fun.

In a question asked about the world and the land explorable land areas I post in today I made I guess what was a negative comment on how after level 40 it was a real grind to get to the level cap of fifty. Below is one place that we were told about the Tribute System not needed and then the response I got after my comments.

I'll never buy any thing from any kind of cash shop in a game. I feel it's like buying from a gold spammer personally. But that's just me. So the Tribute system is something I'm not even exploring in Alganon. Again just me.

Anywho.

About the game.

It still has about the same population it had in Feb-March-April. In other words less then 100 players at any given time, total, on 3 severs and 2 races.

At level 40 plus it's still as boring as it was before 2.0 with nothing to do but grind for the next 10 levels.

The instances are nice but if you can't find a group of 6 players you are pretty much left out in the cold and to run a instance that is the same level you are be prepared to die .. and die a lot. And then spend your gold on repairs, a lot of gold.

So is the game going to survive. Only da shadow knows.

Tim
