sounds like you got yourself a nice little business project!

its a great idea.

but it begs the question why use random number generators at all here. why not say x ability for a,b,c class all do 100 dmg.

i think when you make decisions like that5 you start to see more balancing trends.

also, in all my pvp years, teamwork and tactics always seem to trump balance... or imbalance as the case may be.

I always thought GW did a decent job of keeping pvp balanced.
I think part of that though is the fact that you can instantly re-roll whatever class you want as a pvp toon.

The other thing people I think cry about is class imbalance--- which is ok if you consider TEAM balance. Yes, maybe a healer can't take out x-dps class, but the healers is vital as a part of the team. (Something that has me very curious about rated bg's in wow--- has me even thinking of going back)

I'm a big pvp fan in the games I play(ed) and I think still the best thing for me was OLD school AV.... the games that lasted through the night and you go to bed and they are still going on. That was a case where balance was more often fair because the sides were huge, there were npc's, and other reasons.
They don't make em like that any more--- though i never liked the 2-3 hour que wait :)

I might check this out. Decent filler until some of my 2011 titles find their way into my loving arms.

going in chronological order would be my approach, though there are pros and cons to this.

Going out of order means seeing some plot spoilers, but going out of order also lets you level faster, have access to heros (nightfall) and has some other nice treats.

If you only did the gw demo, then you haven't seen 99% of the game. At this point, you can pick it up cheap so I'd say go for it. Plus, there is a definitive start and end to the main stories for each campaign... so if nothing else you could just play those solo and be done with the game.

frankly, avoiding WoW-like endgame is what attracts me to something like CO. I dont want to have to coordinate 25 people --- or even 10 anymore. I want to work in groups of 5 or 6. Now, I'd still like to see wow-like fight complexity along with some fairly typical shoot-em-up aspects.

I posted in a different thread about wanting a superhero mmo, and being lost between coh/co/dc. Which is neither here nor there, but just my own confusion as to which game to spend time on.

Lastly, I am a big fan of user generated content. I think its one of the best ways for an MMO to extend its life. There is no way that a dev team can ever keep up with a player's ability to beat dungeons/bosses etc, so this provides a natural infusion of content. CO should focus on making large sized adventure packs (to use the DDO term) and let the community develop smaller missions etc. I think this would go a long way, and put less stress on the dev team.
