Stormreach under attack: Massively's tour of DDO's newest adventure pack

Dec 10th 2010 8:15AM (Massively)
If you want free fake TP's there's an NPC who lives on the cliffs right under the Airship dock next to the bridge in the Harbor who'll give you 100 TP's a day on Lamannia.

And there's a whole subforum on the Lamannia forums devoted solely to the Armor Kit's feedback. There's a ton of screenies of the new armor kits to be oggled there. Even if you're strictly f2p and can't post, you can still access them and take a look.

Exploring (the rest of) Eberron

Aug 6th 2010 8:14PM (Massively)
First DDO disappointment: It wasn't set on Krynn. Seriously, what was the last platform that had a Dragonlance game? The SNES?

Then I got my hands on the settings books and thought "Well, its not bad..... Ooo whats a Kalashter? OMG Shifters?! This has the potential to be kickass!"

Disappointment the second: "Awesome the races and classes are finally being announced......... What the.... Where all the Eberron core classes? There's only frakking Warforged! Dammit I was all set to roll a Gnome Artificer!!!!!!!!!"

I missed last week, unfortunately, but for more info about collectibles (what's worth keeping and what you find where) go here:

Turbine introduces the Dungeons and Dragons Online Offer Wall

I feel really stupid now. The last time I left a comment on this site it was saying something to the effect that most F2P games found a way to dump a bunch of malware on your system as a source revenue, but Turbine was going a different route. Then this crap. Apparantly even going to the offer wall, not even signing up for anything just LOOKING, exposes you to attack. http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=242978

Do yourself a favor and stay away.

Exploring Eberron: Can you really play free?

Mar 26th 2010 12:30PM (Massively)
I'm a little surprised that this article didn't reference the DDO Choose My Adventure that went on last Decemberish iirc. Although things have gotten a bit easier on pure f2players (no level sigils, more high level free dungeons), It was a pretty good demonstration of exactly what F2P means in DDO terms. Can you play DDO 100% free? Yes, but it requires an investment. If you choose not to invest monetarily (VIP subs or spending cash via the Store to unlock a premium account), then you'll need to invest your time, via grinding favor to earn enough points to buy adventure packs from the store. I think its a little unrealistic to expect a for-profit company to provide you a free game that also doesn't bombard you with spam ads, malware and the like.
