I have high hopes for this, but I think this game needed a big (if not huge) publisher to actually work. I'll be there on launch day, as long as I don't have to pay $50 :-)
I agree with OP. I think there's still tons of room for improvement, and the idea of having a community-based game or software is the continuos improvement of that! So... releasing new DLCs would be a better way of doing it.
However, if the intention is to create a whole different experience (FPSs, shmups and so on), then I agree: Bring on the LBP2!
So good to see the MMO I finally found and decided to settle in still have room for improvements! While I'm not worried about the new adventures (i'm still a level 4 in a test character), the future additions and UI enhances are very exciting. I'd love to see some local chat - I found it sad that you can't see the person's chat over the world - and more of platforming/exploration on the wilderness areas... Also, some pretty difficult Rare Encounters! - they are somewhat easy to deal with.
Keep up the good work, Turbine! - you managed to make a person who had given up on MMOs find another thrills and challenges!
I'm loving DDO! Just made my vip account, so I could play with the Monk and have all the features.
I'm a unorthodox MMO player, I loved Guild Wars but I found it too "hardcore" and pvp oriented. On DDO I found the perfect blend between action, grind and narrative. The game master is a nice touch, and so far the quests have been interesting enough to drive the boredom away.
On the downside, I hate the party-making system, and the fact that there's no "positional" conversation (you can only talk via the chat window). :-(
Overall I loved the game, and I wish I'd tried it earlier... It would certainly make me save $60 from buying my Aion account :-(
I had high hopes for this game. The features presented in the website are very nice, and this is definetly my type of game.
I installed it and it was unplayable. The frame-rate went from 80 FPS to 0.5 FPS out of nowhere, and after 15 minutes hoping it would stabilize, I decided to give up.
I'd love to try it again, I think it might have the potential to become a small-community game. However, you can't release an open-beta with an alpha game, and you can't sell it either... I don't know, I may give a try again in a few weeks, but so far I think this will be a disaster. I understand there's probably pressure from the publishers, but it will kill the game!
