Xstreet wishlists beta for Second Life users

Feb 10th 2010 8:02PM (Massively)
I would like to add the ability to visit xstreetsl.com without needing to login every browser session to my wish list. You know, like how they had it before it was "improved" by Linden Labs.

User-generated-content, business models and funding

I would also add that user-generated content adds significant stickiness. Nothing like having my livelihood being dependent on Second Life to hook me to the game.

Anti-Aliased: The reason why you hate Second Life and a few ways to fix that pt. 2

How about this for a reason: I make a living off Second Life. It allowed me to quit my job. This didn't happen over night, but it happened. I even blog about it @ http://virtualworldbusiness.com

It's really a great place to nurture the creative side in yourself and having other people validate it. It's quite a feeling when someone is actually willing to pay real money for something you've created.

January Second Life grid technology updates

No need to be so polarizing. The marriage of Second Life blog posts to massively.com has always felt a bit forced since the beginning. These are very different entities.

Frankly, I would not recommend Second Life to most of the people who are reading massively.com for the mmorpg coverage. Not because they are not capable, but simply because their expectations will not be met.

As for reasons for mainstream to care about Second Life? I would say wait a few more years. The people who are in second life right now cannot whole heatedly recommend it in it's current state anyways.

We didn't ask second life posts to be mixed into Massively.com, but that's just how things are. Therefore we read.

The digital wilderness

Well put Tateru. We are definitely still exploring ways to effectively use the virtual worlds. I simply wish there are more to choose from.

The web is not controlled by a single company that can shut down pieces at their whim.

Thoughts on the Linden Prize

Yeah the longer I've been in Second Life, the harder it is to like Lindel Lab's practices. Anyhoot, bitching about them won't change anything. Only thing that will spur change is to competition. Go Lively!

Kingdon feels the fear

I, for one, am glad that virtual worlds are moving forward with or without Linden Labs.

Kingdon feels the fear

I don't mind the disconnected rooms in Lively. It's not too different from the disconnected islands. Having the lands connected on mainland rarely adds any value anyways.

If Lively opens up user creation and scripting, I'll be all over it. Am I the only one that's annoyed by the lack of comparable alternatives to Second Life?
