Is this game still alive ? I heard from a friend that the servers are lagging like hell in NA after they moved the servers to some cheap server farm in Austin. Now they had the servers stability affected because of the power outages due to the cold weather. Can you see the future of Aion ? : NCSoft cut the costs so much that they moved the servers to some cheap low end server farm without a proper power back-up system and a sub-standard network connection. Their CM Ayase quit and is now the CM for Rift , at least half of the other (GM/CMs) also left NCWest.
Judging after the cheap server location and the employees jumping ship the next step is shut down.

Because all the other MMOs launched last year and this year proved to be inflated hype garbage (STO,AION anyone ?) and because I as bored of WOW I mostly played other games. I'll check WOW again because of Cataclysm. Must be OK judging after the desperate attempts of all the other failed MMOs I played last year, to offered me free game time. That was just pathetic, I think they see their player-base dying because of Cata and the expected SWTOR. Lots of the hyped last year MMO will get a quite heavy blow today and the final death blow when SWTOR is out.

Yeah the "original" idea from NcSoft the "solo instance". I never understood why a "on rails" solo instance is a good idea in a MMO ? Is MMO not suppose to be collaborative game-play ? It is like playing football by yourself :)

@Gallaphant I friend of mine was stubborn to keep playing even after all the friend from the group already left Aion behind, until he was randomly banned 2 times in one month. Second time after more then 2 weeks of suspended account he just gave up. The game lacks content has non-existent support , but the fact that GSU is made of a bunch of monkeys, looks like NCSoft wants people to quit their game.

"Aion's been getting a decent amount of press this fall". Too much in my opinion. I do not see why Massively still puts at least 2 articles per week on this failed game. There are more MMOs with bigger number of players and more updates, events and interesting things going on than in Aion, yet they have the "privilege" of having one or less then an article per month dedicated to them.
I know that NCsoft pays better for publicity then some F2P producer but I expect from Massively a little balance.

@hami83 I'll do the same probably. At least I'll play again for 2-3 months something OK. I stopped playing WOW almost 2 years ago after 4 years of play time. The sad part is that I went through several MMO's in the last 2 years and all of them proved to be hyped unfinished products.
Probably a lot of the MMO's who had an easy time (Lotr, Aion,CoH,Warhammer etc. ) and manage to trick players with incomplete games will get heavy blows because of Cataclysm.
A lot of players like me and hami will probably dump any other MMO and retry to play WOW even if only for 2 or 3 months.

@gamebynight In the NCSoft octomber financial report. They write there that they have now 2.7mil players worldwide , down from 4.5mil. In Korea and China they had a stable population of around 2.5mil players in the summer. So around 200k left for Japan, NA and EU markets.
Look also at the player count threads on AionSource and do not trust the so called Aion fanboys, just Aion CMs posting with alts. There are 2, 3 of them (CM alts) lurking on massively and aionsource.

NCSoft tries desperately to make Aion "easy", because of the massive loss of players. They had 1.2mil players in the first month in NA/EU and after 1.5 years they struggle below 100.000 players in NA/EU. Lack of content and lack of support (still no in game GMs after 1.5 years) buried this game and handing free loot will not revive it.
