Final Fantasy XIV moves forward with exploit patches and companies

Sep 28th 2010 9:20AM (Massively)
If however a game was released and thousands of collector's edition players were having enough fun that they got value for money and then some then there's no reason to ' teach them a lesson' as if this its a criminal trial

Most complaints here on massively are not from players as they are usually followed by exclamations of ' will not waste my money' or preorder cancellations.

No game is complete on release, ffxiv is due for a release day patch on the official release in a few days and great changes have been made.

It still isn't for everyone and that is ok isn't it? Why must everyone who doesn't like the game test it as a crime with that's of punishment instead of seeing it for what it really is objectively. A game with a different audience then the majority of mmo players, with different design paradigms and offers s unique experience to those who want it. No game was perfect on trade and ffxiv I'd getting lynched got something no one has gotten right by the communities perfectionist standards.

If making and releasing a game only some find entertaining instead of all people is a crime society and communities should be punishing then I missed the memo.

I'm sorry final fantasy offends some of you so much. Build a bridge, get on with your lives and find something to enjoy for a change. I know I'll be having fun in a game that I love.

oh and the maturity of being snide towards open fans of the game is shameful. I respect people who don't like the game and share their opinion, but calling out people for support of a game is ridiculous. If you think they are being immature in their defense then those that engage them show they are on the same level. Not that anyone mentioned had been anything but a positive contributor.

Just because your entitled to your opinion doesn't make it fact.

Not sure when the term Wow killer came out? Didn;t that term die with AoC and WAR?

The market is so saturated that no game will claim the staggering market share Wow held in it's heyday.

The community will become increasingly divided in TOR, GW2, FFXIV, Secret World and any other games that come out.

I don;t think that any of these games individually will reach the 12 million or whatever that WoW got at it's height. Even the new Blizz MMO I don;t think will see those sort of numbers just for the saturation of the market.

Wow killing is no longer the yard stick, the last two years have shown that all a company really needs to aim for is a stable population in the three months after launch. Aion, CO and STO are examples of that not happening. Well no recent game has really done this well, but that is why this should be the new yard stick.

Anyway I think FFXIV will do better then most people expect and it will be far more stable because of the established IP and community.

I might be wrong though.

I might be.

Oh and thank you to all the people with their thoughtful contributions on the UI and Controller setup which has thousands of people satisfied and will provide a common ground for a full featured MMO which will be going to console. Also for the assuption that all 'PC player' will never deign to pick up a controller as who could concieve of people who play both consoles and PC. For us 'Daywalkers' Controls and UI's that are a little static are part in parcel on our games so it isn't the end of the world.

Here's to some FFXIV comment thread that won't become a soap box for people to tirelessly advertise thier disgruntlement with the game. Move onwards and upwards people, you're opinion on this, while valid, is now boring.

Lets not forget that communication is encoding your ideas in such away that the intended audience can decode your communication and end up with the original idea that the writer wished to convey.

Elliot did a fine job and I had no problem is grasping the meaning with which he used the word Disenfranchised.

By context it clearly wasn;t refering to civil liberties and if thats what is worrying you then perhaps you need to get a handle on context. Context is equally as important as semantics. There are massess of words which we use daily which through context have changed dramatically in meaning (Artificial and Aweful spring to mind)

Finally, this is a coloumn on gaming, not grammar and the delicacies of the english language.

Reading this comments (Why I even bother I have no clue) I'm left wondering, if we don't care how others do certain things, why the heck should they care about us?

I'm only comforted they care enough about our wallets so that I may enjoy something that fits my bill where every other game leaves me unsatisfied and I find no magic. I hope they continue to not listening to the 'West' because there's not much to be proud of at this point in time.

Reposting this because it's valid and it's horrible that the massively system allows a thoughtful counter point to be drowned out by the unwashed masses.

It's not good enough for those that don;t like it to simply not play and get on with life and play what you do enjoy. You all belch your evengelical views trying to convince everyone ho wrights you are and belittle anyone who dares to see merit and value in a game you do not. I'm ashamed to be part of a community which acts like spoiled brats when a company dare not deliver what they want. SE owns game and for a fee will allow you to partake. At no point did you buy the right to dictate how that game works. As has been pointed out, if you don;t like it move on.

As long as people belittle and besmirch those who do enjoy it apologists will exsist because there is a community of bullying, frail minded people bashing their hate out on the keyboard

If you think your US companies are any better with EU or Australiasia then you;re in a hypocritical dream world.

I can contact SE and talk to someone about my account. WoW is only open until midday my local time and the three times I have tried to call I could not even get on hold and was told to 'try again'.

Who asked you to conform?

This is bloody philosophy. It's a game. Why would anyone respect someone as confrontational and small minded as Massively commentors.

I do appreciate the Irony in that statement but there it is.

In all my contact with NCSoft and Blizzard I have found no company more helpful with account quieries for hacked accounts or forgotten details then SE. To be available to community run fansites and make themselves available to us so we as players can interact how we want is a great step in my opninion.

Not too long ago everyone was bitching that Blizzard was going to enforce Real ID in thier forums and here SE is actively supportting and getting involved in OUR communities and it still is right.

I prefer a variety of activities to spend my time on. A little adventuring, a little grinfing, some crafting, some Exploring.

FFXIV will suit me perfectly
