Some people should read the chronicles and have some idea about what they're discussing before spouting their mouths about the cloning bit. Referencing the tech article from the eve website:
tldr; according to Eve fiction, although it IS possible to clone outside the pod, due to the "limitless potentiality of planet-bound environments" this has proven unsafe and therefore rarely practiced. A pod pilot can leave his/her pod, but they would be exposing themselves to, as mentioned, perma-death. Other chronicles also reveal that pod pilots are treated to their own areas when out of their pods in stations, rarely having to interact with the rest of society.
Likely, when they release Dust514, they'll make some claim that the cloning process has evolved with new technological breakthroughs....or something of that sort.
