I am really excited about this, I left because there was zero development on the title, and it felt like a dead end. Just the fact that SOE is dedicating resources to it is enough to make me come back.
Unfortunately GW2 really has my attention, and I don't like to play multiple games at once.
Got a source for that, or are you just talking Ace Ventura style?
Last I heard was Fallen Earth had to replace their server hardware to meet demand after their Steam launch last month. Not only are they doing well, but better then they ever have.
@Bezza Sorry should have clarified. I consider the $60 "box" cost the cost to sub for the first month. Playing older MMOs have warped me a bit, I have become accustom to not having to pay such a large fee up front, it is a huge barrier to entry to me.
I am really cheap, so it is more my problem then theirs :)
I played last weekend, and was expecting to completely hate the game, like I did with my time with WoW. To my surprise I found an extremely polished and very enjoyable game. Since I loved KOTOR, I basically played it like a single player game that happened to have MMO elements in it.
I must say this is one of the best quest/gear grinder games so far. I was wholly engrossed by the story elements and found the Smuggler class to be the best ranged class I have played (I rarely play them however).
The environments are gorgeous (character models, not so much), and it was such a nice break from the fantasy setting. They captured the feel of the Star Wars movies very well, and made me feel like I was playing a KOTOR sequel.
Unfortunately I am pretty much over the quest/gear grind games at the moment, so $60 for 30 days of play time is just not worth it to me to play a game that is so derivative, but I came away impressed with the game overall.
Man this really brings back some memories. I played UO for several years as a Human Skald. Many, many hours spend running 8 mans around in Emain, if you didn't have a Skald, you were a sitting duck.
Unfortunately bashing on keeps got old and 8v8 turned into a radar hack fest, then TOA launched and I didn't have the time to level up my pants, and that was that.
Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane, have fun in the BG, it was some of the most fun I had in the game, twinking low level chars for BG action.
