The Daily Grind: Is maintenance mode better than nothing at all?

Apr 2nd 2012 5:25PM (Massively)
I think it depends on the game and the community, but I would say some game is better than no game at all.

The Daily Grind: Do exclusive in-game event items annoy you?

Recoloring or reskinning items that are otherwise identical is a great way of doing exclusive items that do not leave people out completely.

Also making items exclusive for a set amount of time is decent as well.

The Daily Grind: Should MMOs balance for PvP, PvE, or yes?

PvP shouldn't bean entirely different game that just looks like the PvE game.

A Mild-Mannered Reporter: That's really super, Super Pack

For all intents and purposes, we've had to pay for some costumes since the release of the CoH DVD collectors edition.

And also remember, a LOT of costumes were only available if you purchased CoV.

...and the Collectors Edition of CoV too.

....and the Wedding Pack....

....and Good vs Evil......

So, the precedent has been around since late 2004 that certain items (costumes, badges, and temp powers) were available for a cost above and beyond the sub fee.

A Mild-Mannered Reporter: That's really super, Super Pack

In the scheme of things, I think these Super Packs give a decent bang for your buck.

I have 2 accounts, and bought a 24 pack for each and managed to snag the entire costume bundle on both, over 1000 Merits, 13/17 Archetype Enhancements, and dozens of other items that I varying degrees of use for (Dual/Team Inspirations, Enhancement Unslotters, XP Boosters, Windfalls, etc.).

Looking at the prices of Enhancements and Costume Bundles, it's almost a break even proposition; the Merits and the other consumables are just bonuses.

So, if a company is going to do this kind of thing, it seems like Paragon is doing it in a way that makes it far more palatable.

Leaderboard: Playing same gender vs. opposite gender

There really should be a third option for 'mix of both." I think I'm 50/50 on my alts.

For a second there, I assumed with a name like City of Steam, that ths had something to do with City of Heroes....

Online gaming linked with marital dissatisfaction

Wow.

A study was hypothesized....funded...and researched...that shows that people who are in relationships who put said relationship lower on the totem pole than their entertainment choices have bad relationships.

I'm stunned.

A great healer can turn anyone into a tank!

The Daily Grind: What dead game would you play in a second if it revived?

Gotta go with TR too.

I would love to see it come back as a hybrid game.
