This makes me more sad than it has any right to. My brain knew it would never see launch, but my heart was hoping. Oh well. God knows what mutated thing will spring forth from this. I still don't get why they don't just go Rogue Trader on it... seems more suited to an MMO. Hell you could have expacs for hive gangs, Inquis, etc and still have Space Marines fumbling around. Also many factions as you wanted.
I still think a really good shooter/action Space Marine MMOT/FPS would be better suited for the game on that level. because let's face it, it's all about pew pew pew when you strip the strategy out. I should say DAKA.
I think I stated, "...been a while since I played GW."
As for the cash shop, GW's main draw was it was a buy the box and play, I could get my non-mmo friends to join in with a small amount of arm twisting. As it stands I have three subs going right now, not a big fan of item shops, I understand their allure to some though. But I'm not a fan of them because of basic design philosophies and my expectations of how a game should function and the realtionship between customer and provider. I have tried over two or three dozen "Free" to play titles and have yet to be impressed, I doubt a "F2P" model with a 60 dollar box will impress me much more.
But that's a personal opinion, and no, I didn't bother tracking the game much beyond an article here and there. I get sick of the years of hype leading up to the games now days, the constant add like quality of the information they push out is a bit tiresome after a year. It's off putting to ay the least and I like to come at some games with a fresh perspective. before you ask, yes, I do understand it's a business. No hard feelings towards them, I just don't reward them with my money or time.
I take it GW/GW2 is getting away from the price of admission being the box only? I've been pitching this to my friends as such, I'll have to stop now, been a while since I played GW. Shame it will ship with a shop in place.
Massively loves hits (as they should)! They should put extra adds on Smart related stories... smarter people are doing a a better job of this already, I'll pass on this game.
All this post does is make me think "meh, it's Dick." As for the question, yes, of course you could, would it be worth a crap? Who knows. And now I want to watch "Brewster's Millions."
WAR40K devs laid off, game will no longer be an MMO
