BioWare announces SWTOR grace period, scheduled maintenance windows

Dec 15th 2011 9:22PM (Massively)
@Graill440 I used to think the same way until I realized that there are server upkeep cost and other business cost like customer support and such. As long as a mmorpg is good at keeping servers stablized and I find the game enjoyable, I will sub.

BioWare announces SWTOR grace period, scheduled maintenance windows

Well this comes as great news for me since suckstop, err, I mean Gamestop decided to backout of a midnight release after telling everyone that preordered the game there they would have one.

Thank you Bioware for realizing what a mistake it would have been to not offer a grace period.

Funny you should say that about people not knowing it was for pc. That is the first thing she said to me when I told her what Gamestops excuse was and she hates video games.

@Beltyra

While I agree with you to not trust a Gamestop employee, it was the store manager that told me about the change of them not doing midnight release. Trust me, I already plan on calling their customer service/coporate about them making the change after confirming with me that they would have midnight release. I'm actually not upset with the store employees, but more of the distract manager for telling them to not have a midnight release.

Btw, i'm pretty sure it is too late to transfer the preorder to another store since shipments are set to go out to the stores in a day or two. But as far as alot of people cancelling their preorders because they thought it was for consoles, I don't buy that one bit. They were probably told to give that excuse to justify the change.

I do know, they just lost a customer that will drive out of my way to preorder/purchase games elsewhere.

Are they still not offering a grace period on launch day? Just went to gamestop and threw down the rest I owed for the CE, and told the employee I'll see ya at midnight on launch day and he said gamestop decided not to do a midnight release anywhere because they recieved cancelled preorders because people didn't know it was for the pc. He could be totally lying to me since he was the one that told me they were having a midnight release and they changed their minds.

But anyways, since they are not offering a midnight release and if BW doesn't offer a grace period, i'm looking at being locked out until gamestop opens in the morning.

EverQuest II grandfathers in established characters

Awesome. That explains where my 4k station cash points came from. Took a break from mmos in preparation of swtor. Still plan on playing eq2 every once in a while. Thanks SOE!

Spacetime announces industry-first cross-platform implementation

@Sam not Spam

Microsoft has some strict policies set in place that make it hard for mmo devolopers to devolope a mmo for the xbox. Dust 514 comes to mind. That is why CCP went exclusively with PSN. Microsoft wants a closed enviroment. Seems like they didn't want CCP to have a seperate server, but the game stored on a server with microsoft or something like that. Maybe one day a deal will be worked out and mmos will be accessable through all platforms.

But as far as this article goes, I am very excited that they allowed this even though I don't play. Always like to see developers try new things.

Star Wars: The Old Republic opens up pre-loading for early players [Updated]

@aurickle

Hope you get your package early so you are not affected by grace period. Already contacted the gamestop that I preorder CE at, and they confirmed they are having a midnight release party for swtor :D

@Khalus

I talked to my local Best Buy since they are on my route for work and they told me they should get some Collector's Editions to sell right on the floor. No pre-ordered required. Limited though. This is just from what they are saying. Also, for any of you that want to snatch up a collector's edition, I'd recommend checking with your local gamestore that offered pre orders on collectors edition. Chances are, there will be some copies that people preordered abandon, and never pick up. My local gamestop has a 3 day policy. If you preo order a title and it isnt picked up in 3 days and others are demanding to buy a copy, they will sell to them. Just some ideas for those that missed preorder of collectors edition.

Btw, I was lucky enough to just stop in gamestop and check to see if preorders were available and was told they jsut started that day. I preordered but didn't realize until the next day early access was based on when you entered code. Hope that didn't knock me too far off from day 1 of early access.

EverQuest II delays expansion launch overnight [Updated]

Dec 7th 2011 12:00AM (Massively)
I blame Massively for the delay. What do you think will happen if you release a article that says, SOE releases EQII Age of Discovery before they actually open the servers back up lol. Just kidding around but seriously, the title from earlier could have read, SOE is preparing to launch EQII Age of Discovery.

Anyways, best to delay a release of anything if any major problems are discovered.
