Great article, thank you. I am sure that there are others out there that have toyed with the idea of putting together their own indie-MMO but are put off by the sheer challenge of the task.

These pointer, whilst obvious, are often overlooked by those indies and should be taken as good advice.

Rift is a breath of fresh air, in my opinion. If you are just looking at the forums to judge the state of the game then you will always get a negative impression of any game.

All I can say is that this is the first MMO in a long time where I have no qualms extending after the first month.

I just remember that the game is a month old, it will not have all the features and depth of content of a game 6+ years older than it.

If you keep that in mind when assessing new games then you will be in for a lot less disappointment :)

Thanks for the refresher. I would also add that, although things change over time, the guild's reason for being should be consistent over time. If you are a casual or hardcore guild, PVE or PVP, let recruits know that up front and don't deviate from your core unless there is a compelling reason to do so.
