for anyone who has been watching this game for a while and thinking of giving it a try, I strongly reccommend you do. the player base tends to be a lot more mature, very friendly, and extremely helpful, the grind/questing to max level is pretty enjoyable, and the developers actually give a shit about the people who pay their paycheck. they remind me a lot of CCP with Eve Online, in the fact that they care about both their vision with the game and the players they share it with.
Seriously, Icarus gets reputable guilds to help them host in game events and they actively listen and participate to the conversations in the forums. With the new pvp matches/battlegrounds announced, amongst other changes, I am very excited to see how this game develops over the next year.
From my experience with the game, if the developers say they are implementing these changes, then that means they will follow through without half assed fixes or cancelling announced content three days before the patch drops. they really seem like they get their kicks on making the game better for the players.
With all of the above together, I find that most players of FE, myself included, are easily able to forgive the occasional bug you might still find in game, as any flaws pale in comparison to the amount of fun you really can have riding around and smashin shit up in the wastelands.
So saddle up, gas up your bike, load your sixshooter, sharpen your meat cleaver, and meet me in the wastelands!!!
why is yew gonah scrimunnate agenst me b-cuz i diduhnt go 2 no fancy skeull liek u done did? i wanna rite archohols inyer collum abut my favrote mmo gaem 2!
The whole point is that gamespit gave a review of a game while not even adhering to their own policy for review, which puts their ethics, and my opinion, ALL OF THEIR PREVIOUS REVIEWS, into question.
Gamers need to actually have a few stones to them and some sort of principle rather than feinding like crackheaded fanboys over their favorite reviews sites and game companies.
If we all stopped using site who's practices are questionable, and we all stopped buying games from the empty promise flinging unethical greedy assed flimsy game making software companies, then these douche bags wouldn't be able to make a living peddling the gaming community bullshit under the guise of it being gold. If you don't like it when sites and companies do this, then quit looking at their sites, and buying their products. Put the lying bastards out of business and leave room for the decent ones.
All i can say is that it is about (insert gratuitous amount of expletives here) time that someone wrote an article on this topic. Bravo to you, friend.
Wise man once say, " You can get Monet to paint beautiful scenery on a hardened dog turd, but once it rains, water remove paint, and expose turd for what it really is."
Which is precisely what cryptic does, over produticion in graphics to cover up the most primitive and shoddy game mechanics I have ever encountered in an mmo to date. CO wasn't worth the ten dollars I paid for it during the steam holiday promo, and buying STO was an even bigger waste of money, I wish I would have learned from my past mistake with Cryptic, but assuredly I will NEVER make that mistake again. After two days of playing this game I have quit and even told them to cancel my remaining 28 days or so of game time. And yes, i got the same thing when i went to cancel my account, it said it was a Champions Online sub as well. I am honestly embarrased that I ever trusted a company that is this rag-tag and shoddy with my credit card information.
If the reviews I read about this game prior to buying were a snake they would have bit me right in my stupid behind, but i decided to give them a chance, needless to say, I sincerely regret spending 4 months worth of mmo sub fees for this rediculously crappy game. And this is all after ONLY TWO DAYS OF GAME PLAY.
And I'm not even going to touch their shady marketing tactics full of broken and empty promises. Not even to mention the deceitful way they tooted their own horn about breaking the Guiness record. This sinking ship just needs to toss in the towel and sucumb to the waves.
This is exactly the reason why i love this game and Icarus studios, as I feel that they have approached the whole mmo genre the same as CCP did with EVE, in a completely avante-guarde fashion, looking to make something new as opposed to trying to murder the already well respected and beloved grandaddy of mmos. Icarus shares their vision of their game with its players and I don't know, they seem to really value what the players say and work towards providing what we want in our gaming experience.
I would encourage anyone to give this game a try, at least the free trial. Especially the older gamers out there. And even if you don't stick with it, I think you will agree that Fallen Earth has brought some extremely refreshing elements to the somewhat stagnating mmo genre.
Thank you guys for dropping us a line on the game I anticipate the most this year. It's nice to see developers are respecting WOW for the legacy it built, and rather than trying to "kill it" (like all the '09 games claimed they would do amd which will never happen), they are trying to make something new and unique and are tapping in to new markets and potentially making new subgenres of mmos.
for those of you expressing aprehension towards giving fallen earth a try due to the graphic quality, glitches you've heard about, or any other criticism, I say put your hesitation to the way side. Once you log on and create your character, you will literally get lost in this game, its very encompassing. and if you actually read the quest text and follow the stories in the missions, you'll find yourself caught up in an intrruiging plot full of black humor. This game is seriously like mad max meets the wild west, meets kill as many f-ing zombies as your little heart is content too. And who cares how expensive fuel is or how hard it is to make...GO ON AND GET YOU YOUR MOTORSICKEL!!!!
Give the ten day trial a whirl and I'm sure you'll convert to full subscription before your trial is up.
I don't have any sort of english degree, or vast knowledge of journalism and its general philosophies, if you will, but I think any writer that writes for any sort of publication read by masses of people, should be writing about something that they are personally passionate about, something they know, and something they have vested time into. Because if you aren't, then you're not only wasting your own time, but the time of your readers as well.
So for all of you making allegations about biases and what not about staff here playing game favorites, pull your head out of your asses. OF COURSE the writers here are going to write more passionately and more content about the games they like. They are after all the ones who have achieved a status in doing so and are writing for a rebutable source of information. Every writing done about any piece of media or scource of entertainment contains a bias. because when it all boils down to it, what determines whether a game is "good" or "successful" is an opinion or a collective opinion, no more, no less. If there not writing enough about the game you like, well its probably because not that many people play it. So your not upset about a bias, after all you have one, hence the root of you disagreeing with the author of said article, you are really upset that you get no self validation because the writer of the article does not share your own personal bias towards your preferred game. Enough going off on you haters.
Keep up the good work massively. Your well written articles have pushed me into playing games I would have never even blinked at otherwise. And though I don't always share your opions, I appreciate the input and information you give. I'm looking forward to the new proposed layout and would much rather read an article I like about a game I like written by someone who likes the game as well.
The only question not asked so far is, what kind of complete dildo pays someone $760 for a preplayed game account? Yeah this guy reeks of doucheness for defrauding some poor inept nerds, or more likely than not, elitist rich kids too stupid to level their own toon, but how about the idiots willing to pay that much money for a toon someone else has played?
Let's hope this guy is as good at fighting IRL as he is buttonmashing in raids or BG's, because people who commit fraud are looked at as only one step above child motlestors in the clink. I got a benjamin that says this dude ends up carrying some hard core cons "war glave of assinoth" right where the sun don't shine, that is unless they sell some sort of trinket on the commissary that reduces the aggro of booty bandits.
Now let the conspiracy theories begin, personally i think this whole rash of blizzard in law enforcement related articles proves my theory correct that blizzard is slowly but surely usurping the powers that be in the CIA and will soon take over that orginization...and communist china with their gold...and they caused global warming with all the barrens chuck norris jokes...and they are all involved with some freemason like underground furry communist orginization, seriously man, google it!
