Other than the fact that you have more bloodlines to choose from, no. There aren't any upgrades or anything that directly give you an advantage in the arena. I play all the time so I dropped the $30 so I could have the bloodlines but there are plenty of people that just use the in game currency to buy them over time. This would probably be the way to go especially for a new player because you will just want to learn a few champs at first.

Always wanted to try this game because of the design concept but I didn't get around to it before they shut down before =( ... would love a beta key to give it a go

Back when I played WAR I never really crossed realmed but was accused of it a lot. We would have organized duels and group v group duels for fun, away from all the chaos of massive zergs fighting it out. Obviously, we were accused a lot for cross realming back then but it really wasn't about that. We just wanted to fight for fun. I'm not sure if this is what you were describing in the beginning of your post or if it was actual organized cross realming where one participant gave a free kill away.

Either way, in my a game like WAR I'm completely supportive of people wanting to get together away from the main game and duke it out for fun without worry of outside interruption. On the other hand you can't really be for people trading kills for renown gain unless you're the one doing it. It's basically just cheating.

Oh, I didn't see the part about an intentional difference in content. Sometimes studios will change certain content (especially items) when dealing with different cultures. This is especially true when dealing with Asian markets vs. Western ones. Though this is still done by the host studio at the request of the contracted studio. The contracted studio still doesn't have the authority to change content without the host studios permission in any case I've seen.

Oh yeah but in the Q and A the community guy talked about NA, EU and all other regions pushing builds at the same time so no one is left behind.
