They can refine the PvP experience, but it still sucks.
So when they decided to just remove open world(ish) PvP from Ilum is that considered "refining" the PvP. Seems more l;ike sweeping it under the rug.
Sorry to say that the PvP sucks but it does. It's just a bunch of mini-games that do little to give a sense of the galactic conflict going on in the storyline of SWTOR. The PvP has no effect on the storyline or the game world in general. Huttball is the worst of them all, for a game so focused on story Huttball has no place in the story nor does it make much sense. Amidst the galaxy wide war going on everyone stops to play a ball game? Gimme a break.
I don't see the PvP model they have doing much to change itself and I question some of their "refinements". They're doing a lot of changes to the PvP gear and the commendations and such REALLY early in the game, I just don't think they have a good grasp on what they are doing.
Anyhow, I am still subbed and I would like to see the game improve, but the current gameplay models in the game leave something to be desired.
AC all the way baby! AC was my first MMO and I played it for years. Played AC with my pops and we had great adventures. I really miss the style of MMO that AC was.
I was excited for the sequel and then ultimately let down by the sequel which I felt was quite poor in relation the first game.
I would love to see an Asheron's Call 3 or reboot if they kept it similar to the sandboxiness of the original game. One of the best character development/skill systems along with pre-NGE SWG.
@mmogaddict "Derek Smart is to Game Design what Uwe Boll is to the Film Industry."
Hehe, same thing I commented in the previous Derek Smart/LoD article on Massively.
At least Uwe does not take himself that seriously and rather than spew worthless crap out of his mouth like Smart does at his critics Uwe challenged his critics to put up or shut up.
@EuchridEucrow
I would pay to see Uwe beat the crap out of Smart.
No because I doubt an MMO version would be able to capture any of the essence of the single player games that make them so good.
If you were to ask the Magic 8ball if an MMO version of the Witcher would end up anything like the single player games it would say "Outlook not so good"
The endgame in SWTOR is a complete letdown. I overall enjoyed the leveling up process and I found a good mix of solo and group play as I leveled up.
But the endgame is so much of the same ole same ole repetitive gear grind that I almost can't stand it.
Grinding the Hard Modes and Nightmare Modes just gets boring fast, there is nothing really new just the same ole mobs just higher health and more damage. Heck even Rift could be bothered to change up the Hard Modes with extra bosses, you think Bioware could have done anything to mix it up a bit.
The PvP is also pretty underwhelming, just a few mini games that give no real sense of the conflict between the two sides and does little to feel interesting or meaningful. And Huttball is the worst, completely kills the PvP for me; in a game so story focused they have Huttball which seems completely out of focus with the rest of what is going on. Amidst this serious conflict and war going on there is frickin' e-sports going on. I don't even bother with warzones right now until they add in the option to pick which warzone you want to play in, not interested in the possibility of getting randomly dumped into a HUttball warzone. Huttball is something I expect to see in a pardody of Star Wars...
And they just bailed on Ilum PvP, I suppose they will re-add it one day in an expansion.
I'm not terribly excited for 1.2 and my hopes for the game are dwindling. As leader of my guild's Republic chapter I have seen the guild population dropping off and we are lucky if we get enough on for our scheduled Ops. Not a good sign. 1.2 may bring a bunch of people back, but how long is it going to keep them?
I dunno, I guess I was expecting Bioware to come up with something less repetitive and derivative when it came to endgame.
