The Daily Grind: Would you buy a system for one game?

Yes, if that game was a Monster Hunter game.

The Road to Mordor: My love-hate relationship with Legendary Items

LIs are one of the best parts of the game. LIs and skirmishes are the whole reason I came back to Lotro after a very long hiatus.

They are definitely NOT too complex. They are probably just the right amount of complexity. Why does everyone expect games to be so damn simple these days?

I love the random aspect to LIs. I love having to level them up. I love being able to level up and customize my runes. These are the best parts of LIs.

If I was given a single LI that I leveled up with less complexity than there currently is, it would bore me to tears.

The Daily Grind: Have you met your online friends offline?

Aug 12th 2011 8:25AM (Massively)
Many people, many times. I've been playing games online for about 14 years, and over the years I've gone on many trips to meet up with some of the people I've played games with. A few years in a row one of my gaming communities had a giant get together at one guy's house over a weekend. It's always been a ton of fun.

The Daily Grind: Would you be as excited for Guild Wars 2 if it were a subscription game?

Jul 6th 2011 8:26AM (Massively)
What's exciting about GW2 isn't the subscription model. In fact, I often forget that I won't have to pay a monthly fee. I'd gladly pay just as much, if not more, than the current average subscription fee.

What's exciting is the fact that they are actually trying to do something new and interesting. They are trying to evolve the MMO genre towards an actual living world instead of the static crap we have now. The dynamic events system allows a player's action (or inaction) to actually play a part in shaping the world. This is a huge step forward for MMOs in general.

Also, the removal of the holy trinity (tank, dps, healing) is incredibly exciting. No matter what classes these other MMOs try to add, it all still boils down to the holy trinity and hours upon hours of "LFG healer!" or "LFG tank!" Not in Guild Wars 2.

Basically, unlike about 97% of the MMOs that are on the horizon they are trying to do stuff that's innovative with Guild Wars 2.

The Daily Grind: Do you multitask in MMOs?

Dec 2nd 2010 8:48AM (Massively)
I play games on a desktop PC with a laptop next to me on the desk. I typically have up my email, some forums, and maybe some other stuff up on the laptop. I'm not always paying attention to the laptop though. If I'm doing anything much more than farming something I tend to focus my full attention on the game.

Funny, DDO has done amazingly well since it went f2p. Lotro has had a big surge of new players with the f2p as well.

What exactly makes you think that they'll be gone? Also, what's pathetic about their marketing campaign?
