I understand that your whole post is your opinion of the books and of the wheel of time. But you need to get the facts strait,Brandon Sanderson didn't come in and save wheel of time from the brink, in fact it is known that Robert Jordan knew he wouldn't get it finished. So he prepared notes and such so the book could be finished the way he wanted it to be.
Sanderson is a good author, but he knew he needed to keep the wheel of time feeling like Jordan's wheel of time, which i believe he did.
Now the game of thrones is a whole different story,i see it being just unique to martin and i couldn't see anyone being able to finish it for him.
But anyhow back to the post it self, this game i just cant see having the scale and scope which is believe is needed for game of thrones in a mmo. Its odd to me that a game company like this got it.
I like alot of other people really liked the idea of the LI system when it was being introduced. But time has really turned me against it. I understand it seems complicated when you first run into it or start and alt,but once you know what your class needs it becomes a grind game of looking for the right one, i have seen people lvl 30 weapons to lvl 30 to get the right legacies on them.
Ofc now you have the option the switch out legacies, but there is a down side the tier of the legacy will go to tier 2 no matter what tier the one you switched. This is a cheap way to extend end game imo, you spend how ever long grinding skirmish's or instances for your 2nd age.
identify it and you might have to change 3 or 4 things on it. You then have to grind scrolls of empowerment to raise the tiers so you can raise the legacies as high as you can with your points. This is what the LI system seems to me,some cheap way to add content at lvl cap.
O yes and on the subject of randomness,i would not say its gone to nil, might be able to change the legacies to what you need but you still have no control over the tier of them, which is alot more work to fix then legacies. Also for some classes they need 4 major legacies on the weapons or class items, which is random again.
I am still of two minds if i would want them to fix the system or scrap it all together, and try some new idea.
its a great idea in theory for the hardcore pvp fans. But look at funcoms track record with server with diffrent or odd rule sets, namely the culture pvp. Now i was on the eu c-pvp server and i must say all problems aside one of the best servers i have been on.
But so many problem,we couldnt raid because of a bug where we would hurt each other,c-pvp didnt get to start raiding till 2-3 weeks after everyone else. There was problems with pvp like a healer would heal the same race as himself, even if the healer is in a group with you,and you are killing the person.
Now instead of trying to fix these problems or fixing the ruleset they left the server there to die and ignored all the people on it.
So what i am saying here is i would worry that if they ran into any odd problems or major ones on these new servers they might jsut ignore it because it could be to hard to fix.
Some people just use it to prove there point, its funny you can see this in rift already.
It usually starts with people talking about bugs or improvements, with out fail someone will pipe up with this. "I have been part of rift since beta phase 1 and ...... etc etc. "
Once you use that line it automatically wins yours argument, because ofc the longer your in a beta the more wise and intelligent you become lol :P
Last year my friend rings me up and tells me my char in wow is logged in and he had sent me a tell but got no reply.
So strait away i began to look how to sort this out, and i must say blizzard have a pretty strong system set up for this.
I managed to change the password, then had to email blizzard telling them what had happened and sending them a pic of my id to prove who i was. Think it was just under a week i had my account back.
But i must say i kinda have to be thankful to the person that hacked my account :P Before it got hacked i had very little gold left on my chars, but after getting back my account and logging in to 14 pages of mail of items that the hacker had sold for his gold farming. Then selling the items again i had 3k g.
So at the end of the day it was kinda a good thing my account got hacked as in the long run it helped my out more then it hindered me :D
I started my first guild in Lotro, but due to problems with the game not liking my credit card i couldn't continue to play the game and that guild died pretty fast.
After that i didn't start a guild for a long time, until Age of Conan. There i started a guild called "The Bridgeburners" on the EU c-pvp server (twilight) . It was great at the start numbers where good and some great people where in the guild. But anyone that knows the culture servers on Age of Conan knows the problems the servers started to have.
Low pop and problems with the raiding really took its toll on guilds on the server.
After awhile i aranged a merge with another guild and we became "Imperium". I was co guild leader then. I really enjoyed that time of my guild leading career,if i can call it that. :P But again the server came to bite us on the ass and no matter how hard we tried the guild started to fail as the server slowly died.
After that i said i would never run a guild again because Age of Conan took so much out of me. I became raid leader and officer of other guilds in other games after that.
But enough time as passed now and i am thinking of restarting my guild Imperium in another game, looking at Rift for that. I seem to stay in a game longer if i run a guild, and enjoy the game more.
I am deslexic and really grammer, spelling and most things to do with good writeing and such do not factor into it when i am typeing. Its not an excuse just like that,I mean i could spend the extra 3-4 mins everytime i write something to make sure its right, but the question is why should I? When i am playing a game i want to have fun, when i am doing an important essay for example I will do the proper drafting and spell/grammer checks.
I can understand a small bit what you all are saying, extreme text speech does annoy me,because it takes a long time to figure out,but you shouldnt let something and simple and spelling and grammer effect your enjoyment of the game and such.
If my post has caused you any stress due to what i am sure are many grammer and spelling mistakes i am sorry. : P
