I never played DnD but I have played several other pen and paper rpgs. My favorite, I can't remember the name, but it was a super hero based game.

I'll have to say Final Fantasy 11. It was always a great game and still is, but never got the attention it deserved. It did great for a while and had a large player base, but it deserved even better.
