Bahahaha, he went around and researched your guild and analyzed its userbase. What an epic troll...I wish I had that much time to waste on the internet.

They do use up power, its just that you have so few of them they never get very low. All phasers use up 10 weapons power per shot, but with only 2 it never goes down. Wait until you get 5-8...

Well, as far as space goes, yes its largely the same...as its space.

But on the ground however, I have yet to see the same planet environment or even the same indoor map used twice and I'm to level 20 and have done every mission available. MUCH better than City Of Heroes recycling the same 5 maps throughout the whole game.

Ginormous Star Trek Online beta patch is live

Jan 21st 2010 9:06AM (Massively)
So many additions and fixes in this patch! AA is working again on my ATI card. You can visit some planets like Risa and Vulcan that now have huge(in STO terms) social zones! And they have unlocked the entire universe and removed the level cap! New patcher too!

So ready for this game to launch!

You don't see any endgame to speak of? Wha?

Hmmm...I wonder if that could be because everyone is capped at level 16...

Nope! That can't be it! Cryptic sucks!

The devs have said you get a 3rd slot once you make a Klingon character that you can use to make another character of either race, its just not working like that in the beta.

Well, I don't like that I can't get it for my male Gorn. I think he's all kinds of sexy and seductive too...just sayin...

Phasers set to fun, sit back and bust out the popcorn

All randomly generated? The second mission, and most memorable I've experienced so far, has you:

-talk to a senator in spacedock
-escort him to a planet
-destroy the Klingon blockade around the planet
-beam down and escort him to a temple
-defend the temple from Klingons for a time
-turns out the senator is a shapeshifter so chase him through some other mobs
-beam back up to your ship and try to stay alive for 2 minutes until reinforcements arrive
-team with reinforcements to take down the massive alien ship.

Yep, that sounds like a randomly generated kill 5 boars mission that is in any MMO, that's for sure. :-) No doubt there are random kill and fetch quests in STO, but if you say there aren't good storylines mixed in, you haven't really played.

Pretty much the same. You get attribute points that you must spend on skills. If you dont spend them, you never level up though. They only count toward your level if spent. But yes, to say it's not conventional xp is pretty silly.

The Daily Grind: Excited for Star Trek Online?

Jan 5th 2010 5:02PM (Massively)
Yep, I remember when my superhero got in a spaceship and had to destroy enemy Romulans using phasers, torpedoes, and managing shields and abilities. You're right, it's exactly like Champions Online!
