Bring on the Diablo Clones....we all need something until Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2 launch!

The Old Republic's space combat detailed in PC Gamer

Aug 15th 2010 9:52AM (Massively)
TOTALLY! Release it in a year or so as a huge update, or an expansion pack. I want EVE ONLINE style space control....or something similar...perhaps Freelancer! Let me dog-fight, let me actually travel to other areas, let me land on an asteroid and "mine" or some shit....

WRUP: Oh no, an owl edition

Jun 6th 2010 9:06AM (Massively)
Well, I will, and have been, playing alot of Lord of the Rings Online lately, trying to get my Champion up to level 65 before the summers end. Over half way there....although, since the XP needed increases exponentially, I'm probably no where near half way.

I will also probably play some Heavy Rain and maybe load up some Team Fortress 2 for good measure!

The Daily Grind: What do you think of LotRO's new F2P model?

Jun 5th 2010 11:05AM (Massively)
I have been playing this game forEVER it seems. I was in the beta and then immediately snagged a lifetime membership. I feel a little torn with this switch. I understand what everyone is talking about when they say that the community is simply awesome! This is true.....and if by switching to a F2P model taints that, as a lifetime subscriber, I would be annoyed and angry. If however, this change brings a lot more people into the game...I say bring it on! I know there are some purists out there who want nothing to change, no new "n00bs" to mess up our servers or steal our mobs while we are questing....but, the whole reason I play this game is for the social aspect placed in a lore that I love!

To conclude, switching to this model does not screw over anyone who is currently subscribing....it merely makes it easier for people to try the game and possibly put some money into Turbine.

As soon as Turbine was bought out, I knew something major would change within the year...hopefully this change is a good one...else, Star Wars The Old Republic HERE I COME!!!

The Daily Grind: What are your summer MMO plans?

May 16th 2010 8:59AM (Massively)
Well, after much thought, I have decided a few things as far as MMO plans go this summer. First, I want to get my RuneKeeper up to level 65 in Lord of the Rings Online by the middle of August. Whether this will happen or not is hard to tell. That is about 45 levels to burn through.

I am also somewhat excited to jump back into WOW for a few months, and get ready for Cataclysm. WOW is always calling to me in the back of my head whenever I sit down at my computer to do some gaming.

The last MMO I plan to continue playing on a regular basis is Global Agenda. Great fast paced team action!

The Daily Grind: Tired of TOR?

Apr 24th 2010 9:08AM (Massively)
I don't think I can EVER be tired of this game.....or hearing about this game. As a matter of fact, I want MORE coverage of this game. More videos, more screenshots, more news....BRING IT ON!!!

WRUP: Riding into the sunset edition

Apr 24th 2010 9:06AM (Massively)
After a buddy of mine snagged me a StarCraft 2 Beta key, I think I will spend a lot of my weekend getting schooled by 12 year olds on the multi-player.

I am also playing a TON of Global Agenda lately. Great game...although, up to this point, all of the armour looks to be identical, just look a little different. Odd....I would have thought there would be some stat buffs on higher level armour. Guess not!

Choose my Adventure: Technically Speaking

Well,

I will definitely check out the trial for the 10 days. I love the idea of this game, post apocalyptic type game environment.....but again, I refuse to invest my time into a game that will not keep me interested for a long time! So, trials are awesome and I plan to do just that....trial it :)

Choose my Adventure: Technically Speaking

Feb 24th 2010 4:35PM (Massively)
OK....so I have been reading this web-site for almost 3 months now, and I am really loving it! It is right up my alley since I only currently am playing 1 MMO, Lotro, and thanks to this site, can read about all the other games I am missing out on. Well, I just decided, like, oh, 4 hours ago, to check out Fallen Earth. This would be my 2nd MMO that I would be playing.

My question is how active are the players in this game? And how large are the populations in this game? Is it comparable to LOTRO, where there are always people running around doing something, but it isn't insanely overcrowded like WOW is, or is it deserted like SW:Galaxies seems to be now adays? I am curious about this because if this game is not taking off enough to have a decent user base playing, I don't want to take away my limited gaming time from LOTRO to invest in this game. Any thoughts would be GREAT!!

The Daily Grind: How important are options?

Feb 17th 2010 3:00PM (Massively)
I would much rather have a SINGLE LINEAR STORY ARC that was excellent, then a game with multiple horrible paths to get lost going down. This works great in a game like Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate or Bioshock, which actually all have multiple ways to address the game, but does NOT work at all with an MMO. The reason for this is because the MMO communities spoil EVERYTHING! If a new instance arises in my favorite MMO, within a week of it launching, there will be tons of tutorials up on how to do it "properly", groups you join up with to go through the instance are all convinced of the "right" way to do it, and all the exploratory fun is ripped from the game. Because of this, a single over-arching story line with a mostly linear direction will never be as fun or successful as those types of story lines are on a single player or merely coop game. As much as we would love to have that perfect multi-story line driven MMO, the truth is, unless you are on the cutting edge of the game as it launches, you will never be the first one to accomplish something or discover an area in a game. At least in single player games, we have the illusion that we were!
