My game seems to have a lot more lag right now since the patch, like I'm running it on high quality graphics or something (which, as I've mentioned before, I can do with every other game I'm playing including Skyrim with no problems but on SWTOR I have to play at low quality and on a 1280x900 resolution). Not good.
I can see the logic behind labeling RMT as basically gambling. If you get a rare or valuable piece of gear you make some money off of the game, but it's ultimately a matter of luck as to whether or not you get the gear.
My computer runs plenty of new games at maxed out graphic settings just fine. Skyrim does fine. And sometimes I even run more than one version of an MMO at a time when I'm playing an MMO on two seperate accounts (and have one account on follow and just alt-tab back and forth a bit). But I have to play SWTOR not only on minimal graphics but on a lower resolution or it lags like crazy.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm loving playing the game and I'm not going to quit over it. But I don't see any reason I should be having these issues when other games I run are not only fine but look MUCH BETTER than SW does. SW is okay, but it's graphics aren't really impressing me on even maxed out settings (except in conversations.) Plus, my computer can run other Bioware games at maxed graphics just fine and they look great. So why does SW on low graphics and not that great graphics anyways tax my system so much? I'm forced to conclude the issue is on their end not mine.
It shouldn't be that hard for Bioware to figure out some simple ways to solve this problem. Some people on this forum have given some good suggestions about making you wait a certain amount of time to log in from one faction after playing the other and so on.
I have a friend with severe OCD that leads him to obssess about video games he is playing. And I mean he seriously obssesses to the point of just being sad, it's all he thinks about. Even for a hardcore gamer like me he's way into the realm of just depressing. So when I first introduced him to WoW I figured, yeah he's going to be addicted, but at least he will be playing a game that will lead to some social interaction with other players rather than him just sitting at home playing FFVII over and over. Maybe not a huge step forward but I think it at least got him interacting with people.
Yeah, it really seems like they take two steps forward and then one step back sometimes. They've got a lot of nice features that I'd like to see implemented in other MMOs but then they seem to be missing some basic ones.
