Guys please get real. PLEASE. Get a grip and if still feel confused answer a simple elementary school question - do you feel TSW is greater than GW2? If your dizziness is over and you have answered No, as you should ...
Then I have heard that for the CE version, GW2 is offering a life-time sub ;) Hmm, its so easy to think hey GW2 is without sub. But its really a life-time sub for free with the CE version.
Now I don't want to be rude, but there is a finger motion for offering me a life-time sub for a game I haven't played yet with a 250$ price tag. Personally, all it made me decide is that I am not wasting anything on TSW and just jumping in the GW2 beta, once I am offered that opportunity. The sooner the better.
As much as I like the game, without Steam I will not pre-order. Maybe its a glitch and they will fix it by then. Steam seems to be the most logical path for a PC focused release. I just don't put my money anywhere else ...
A class system has nothing to do with a Sandbox. Sorry. What most are interested in is combat and the open ended skill system sounds great. That said you have neglected to mention please how skills interact TOGETHER? Can one skill influence the other? like in GW2 where fire circle will set arrows in flame? can you combine your own skills? can you cooperate with skills of other players?
Getting back to the initial point - there is no Sandbox in it though!
Really, EQ2 is doing so well now, that it reminds me of the statement we had when it came out way back - about not fixing something that is not broken. Back then we meant EQ is ok and that we didn't need EQ2. Now its the opposite. I think we don't need EQ2 F2P when they are making so much from EQ2. SOE never had a good business sense. Sorry. Nevertheless, I honestly prefer EQ2 in the past 2 months, over WoW, TOR and the other F2P MMOs. I basically ended all other subs and am on a Silver account in EQ2, spending about 5-10$ a month on Station Cash. It was surprisingly good exp for me at least. The game has features you will not find in many other games, and content that can last for a long time. Moreover, even the themepark is with an "EQ" feel. Its not too simple at times. And you have a ton of solo content even in dungeons.
I keep on waiting for a good SOE game, waited for DCU but was disappointed of the action heavy theme. Still as EQ is my point of reference for MMOs since 1999, I keep on waiting. I am even thinking that I will give PS2 a shot! Sounds good so far. What is even better in my perspective is that EQ-Next is based on the same engine. As long as its not action based ...
That company made so much money in the past few years that financially they will do good for ages still. That said WoW will be around 5mill subs in a year, I am almost sure about that. GW2, F2P and the obvious other reasons you all listed. They will get a lot of revenue off Diablo3 but Titan is still 2 years from release. And that is a lot of time. So as good business its always right to cut when you are on top, rather than when you are dropping. It will make their decline till Titan easier to handle.
I bought EQ2 way way back on release but did not connect. Since then I played most MMO titles. Skipped only a few really. I made an EQ2 character 2 weeks ago out of boredom, and to my surprise this is a good game. And a free one. I got to level 35 in 2 weeks of casual play and its nice. I recommend anyone to try it out.
Well for me EQ2 is a good game to play for free - better than LotRO, RoM, AoC ... all of which I tried. Until GW2 its a good thing for free. Then the whole ball game is changed.
