Why I Play: Star Trek Online
Mar 15th 2012 1:37PM (Massively)It bothers me to no end that you cant name your ship in TOR.
But I'll be fair: TOR has way voice acting, is a little more accessible and doesnt appear to need to be completely redone twice to make it decent. They also had real $ to spend on that game, unlike Cryptic, so maybe its not fair to compare apples to apples.
Why I Play: Star Trek Online
Mar 14th 2012 7:46PM (Massively)They definitely keep improving things as well. The latest skill tree revamps and changes to ground combat have really improved the game a lot and its easier to level now with 4 featured episodes to play through and the duty roster system to boost XP.
If you havent played in more than a year, you should really give it a second try and if you've never played at all and like Trek - you've got no excuses!
Resistance is futile!
Rumor: Diablo III releasing April 17th
Mar 12th 2012 8:47PM (Massively)The changes are different but good and the game feels more "Diablo' than ever. You can wax nostalgic about not spending hours looking for runes that only drop in nightmare pandemonium fortress all you like, but at the end of the day, D3 is perfectly executing the chewy center of all Diablo games: frantic clicking and killing monsters with bad ass spells.
It sounds like hype I guess - but D3 will deliver.
Officers' Quarters: Should Blizzard hold a guild summit?
Feb 20th 2012 1:04PM (WoW)They've been constantly improving the guild ui and features for years and the big thing on the "do want" list hasnt changed since launch (aka guild halls).
Bioware needs to badly. The guild features (and UI for existing features) is not very robust and it will take them months(years?) to catch up to wow. This puts them in desperate need to know exactly which features are needed most so they can triage development.
Bioware is using the guild summit to artificially postpone the development of key guild features by giving them a window to say "we'll have more to say about that at the guild summit" and to push off development of things with "We'll be looking to collect more feedback about what the community expects at the guild summit".
Ghostcrawler introduces you to the Pandaren monk
Oct 28th 2011 1:58PM (WoW)The trailer released conveys very little of that though and they're going to need to push back against the negative reactions just as hard to make people understand that this is not a cash in but something they're working hard on to make it cool and awesome.
And it is - you can believe that.
BioWare says gamers find it hard to go back to other MMOs after playing SWTOR
Oct 17th 2011 6:37PM (Massively)I pre-ordered the game but if it wasnt star wars...i dont think people would be as excited.

Oct 11th 2011 11:24AM (WoW)More importantly, while yes, there's effectively some equivalization between how much gold someone will pay and the 10 dollars it costs you to buy it, its not like a cash register. How many characters do most people have? You only need one per character. that is going to put a pretty good limit on how much "gold selling" this will induce.
If anything, it should drive the cash price of gold way down (if it has any effect at all). If the gold to pet ratio is too high, it becomes a lot more financially sound to just go buy the pet yourself than spend 30k g on it.
