this man speaks the truth!

Most IT depts are not going to like people using their own routers but, you might want to check and see who handles the internet for your dorm. I say this because some universities allow the local phone co. or cable co. to handle the internet for dorms.... IE it's not part of the campus network and therefor it's ok to have your own router etc.

"The iPad has WiFi for a reason. I bet your campus also has WiFi
coverage in most areas, connected to that same "fat pipe" those magic
ethernet wires go to.

Regards,
-MRCUR"

This just reeks of ignorance.
I'd bet money that his campus wifi is extremely throttled and while it's true that the APs are likely connected to the "fat pipe" that means nothing if the APs are throttled. It's also very likely that his campus is using 802.11b/g which even if it's not throttled is still nothing compared to being able to actually plug into the wall port so don't tell him "The iPad has WiFi for a reason" when that's nothing like what he's hoping to use.

The Art of War(craft): What the new talent overhaul means for PvP

Jul 9th 2010 11:45AM (WoW)
well, as someone who has played a Rogue since original beta way back when... I have to say this sounds good and bad.

So I've leveled 3 Rogues to 70 and 2 went on to 80 and a bunch more up into the 40s/50s. Remember you couldn't xfer toons the first few years so when I moved to another server I would have to make another Rogue....hence all the rogues.

I've always started with imp SS and imp Evis which are in 2 separate trees and on and on.... IE over the years I found a point allocation system that suited me best for leveling or for leveling/survivability if I was on a PvP server.

Now we'll all be pigeon holed into being one thing and only that one thing up until level 70 unless you pay to re-spec which will only move you to a different pigeon hole.

This might be good for New people to the game but anyone who's played for a number of years might just be annoyed by the change when they make a new alt.

I'm not calling it crap until I get to test it I'm just saying it sounds good for new people but sounds bad for old school players. Again though I will hold off a final verdict until I get to spend time with it in the beta.

Apple: iPhone 4 reception problem is a software issue, fix coming in 'a few weeks'

Jul 2nd 2010 12:37PM (Engadget)
@SeeKo

I think it's because there's the chance that Apple is selling a defective device. If that is the case, should we all just return our phones and get new ones and leave it at that as you suggest?
Or should we not be upset at having expected the phone to work as advertised only to find out that is not the case? What about all the time and often subsequent trouble people spent going through the process to pre-order, all the time people stood in line - all because they expected phone A and instead got phone B.
If it turns out the phones do have some hardware/antenna defect should the company not be held responsible for that? With the money at stake would you expect the company to just own up and admit to there being a problem right away? Or would you expect them to try and tiptoe around it?
A class action lawsuit can get the ball rolling, light a fire under Apple and hopefully get the issue resolved sooner than later.

but if you'd rather let them off the potential hook they deserve than you can just trade your phone in for another phone and live happily ever after. Some people in this world still believe in responsibility and holding others accountable for their actions.

Again though, there's no solid proof of any wrongdoing yet but hopefully a class action suit can speed the investigation along.

So what will Apple do/say when this "visual" fix doesn't fix the dropped calls/data issues...especially when held like a normal person...or in the left hand?

What then?

Go Go class action lawsuit!
