The Daily Grind: Are you still playing a September MMO?

Nov 6th 2009 11:05PM (Massively)
I've stopped playing Aion and Fallen Earth because of the PS3 price drop. I traded in four games and got the new slim system for $199, and it came with the guitar hero 3 wireless guitar bundle. I spent the next little while picking up rock band, the ac/dc track pack, uncharted 1 and 2, killzone 2, and today: MGS4. On top of that the new monkey island showed up a few days ago and I haven't even begun that yet. Overall I'm just catching up with the PS3 now that it's so cheap, and I really love it, which is great since my computer isn't very good to begin with and I don't really want to upgrade it.

I think this contest was a fantastic idea. It introduced me to a great community of bloggers and interesting thoughts on the MMO genre. Thanks Massively! :)

Redefining MMOs: Have your say

I wrote mine before I knew about this competition, and so far there are some pretty outstanding contributions to the subject, so I'm not hedging any bets of success on my part. But I will throw my hat in and see if it nets my blog some exposure.

My article hopes to encourage people to be more accepting of one another while playing MMOs, on the grounds that games are designed with a certain audience in mind, all of which fall under the umbrella of interactive entertainment. If we switched to a freely distributed MMO model with a micro-transaction platform instead of a box fee and monthly subscription cost, I believe it would eliminate the need to 'love or hate' a game and defend your investment.

Fallen Earth launch day roundup

Sep 24th 2009 12:01AM (Massively)
I noticed this game pop up on steam tonight, and haven't heard anything about it until now. I have to say, first off, what the hell is this? It's a blatant rip-off of Fallout 3 with horrible graphics. They even have things that look like super-mutants and call points, AP. They even call the gang members Raiders, just like in Fallout 3. How are they even allowed to make this complete knockoff legally?
