How is spying any different than football teams studying film before a game? The entire idea is to get an idea of how your opponent will play so that you can have a better chance at beating them. This is done in other online games as well. The top Starcraft players view matches from their opponents to see how they play, how they defend from a rush, etc... so that they can gain the upper hand. This is a part of life.
@Tempes Magus I fail to see how you can call all of the matches rigged. I will admit that there were at least 4 that you can call rigged (during the group stages, no idea about the prelim rounds) but last I checked there were a fair few more games than that.
All that being said, it is a shame that the final match ended the way that it did, but honestly, it was more entertaining than the PL v. Hydra match from last year.
Why are they working on this mundane issue when there are some many more serious issues with 00? Honestly, while JBs make life easier for large alliances and may cause some pain for small hit squads being outmaneuvered by blobs there are far more serious issues affecting 00 that need to be addressed first.
Having played the beta, I too feel that it was EVE with robots. Which is not a bad thing as I thoroughly enjoy EVE. However, it is decidedly not for everyone.
I hate fights with unavoidable death mechanics. No matter how good I am, no matter how hard I try, I will still be dead at the end of the fight. I hate that.
The only advice which covers all circumstances is to always check the address bar once you get to the site and before entering any account details.
IE and Firefox are both susceptible to address spoofing (depending on versions, always keep them updated to help prevent this), so your address bar can read www.eveonline.com but you can be on any site of the adversaries choosing.
If you receive an EVE newsletter and click a link on it, always check that you're entering your login details into a page on eveonline.com or eve-online.com. Anything else may be a fake website set up to hijack your account.
That is horrible advice. It should read, never click on the link, manually enter the address in your browser, and then you know that you are going to eveonline.com and not a spoofed site.
