The Secret World pre-order packages feature beta access, lifetime sub, and more

@Unverfied B

This actually makes sense. As there are no classes, you won't need to roll more classes to fill spots for your groups. As there are 3 factions (1 slot for each), I can't see a reason for more.

TBH, I was a little surprised as well. There will be specializations within each weapon type, though. So under elementalism, there'll probably be 3 main branches - maybe healing, support and damage (a guess).

When in a pvp match or in the pvp zone, you'll be put into a faction uniform. The style of the uniform will be autogenerated based on what is in your skill deck - if you're built for tanking/damage reduction, you'll appear heavily armored. There is of course the possibility of people tweaking their decks to appear a certain way to the enemy, but that could be construed as part of the game.

LotRO's Great River update flows today, patch notes released [Updated]

@DancingTaco

I'm with you there. I log in to the game maybe once a month or so, just to do a skirmish or repeatable to see if any spark is there. Nope. I've got 3 characters sitting at 75, and another 2 at 65. I fully intend on buying Update 6 content and playing through it on at least one of my characters.

The biggest reason I left in the first place was how badly they handled ROI and the warden class (my main). They changed the mitigation all around to get rid of the 'melee/ranged/tact defense' stat, and screwed over wardens in the process. Instead, they skirt around the main issue that they cocked up the class bad, and is fundamentally flawed under the new numbers. It really only affected raiders, but it's more the principle of it - not admitting and fixing their mistake.

LotRO cleans up the Warden's act

Update doesn't do a lot to fix the warden's main weakness: Spike damage. With the last expansion, mitigations were tweaked, and the mitigation gap between heavy armor classes and medium went from 20% to about 66%, with wardens taking twice the damage of guards in some situations (due to us taking more and bigger crits as well). They have enough self-heals to make that up and more for most content, but for raids - wardens are still a lot weaker that guards. This update is largely a response to that mitigation change, but fails ultimately, because they didn't address the initial cause of the imbalance. Will the warden be a better class for it? I think so. Will it be a better leveling experience? Definitely. Will it be equivalent to guardians for raids. Not a chance. They buffed the heck out of the class in areas it was already overpowered, though. Meaning wardens on the test server are already succeeding at soloing on-level 3 and 6 man instances.

Me too! Sorely disappointed.

I can't wait to dive into the new area. I'm not playing regularly anymore (half because of time restrictions, half for lack of interest), but I'm definitely buying the zone and playing through. Landscape quests and story arcs have always been a strong feature of lotro.

The Daily Grind: Do you take time off work to play games?

I do when my wife takes the kids to go visit her sister every summer. Just one day off work, even though I generally game from about 6pm to 1am every day they are gone.
