How about we introduce what defines gaming into MMOs- SKILL! Ever since the death of Fury MMO every single mmo that comes out is either about fagrinding, levelling your arse off or doing a helluva quest that you'll get some orgasmastic item for- CHEAP!
How about MMOs become MMOGs and require something else than simply time from the player, not do the job all for him or be so god damn noob friendly? Seriously- how can you play PvP that is based around simply pressing 1-5 to attack and 6 to heal? How can you play PvP that is based on the characters simply standing in front of each other and taking their god damn slow turns in smacking each other's head?! PONG is f*cking more interesting that that.
And what happens when a skill-based PvP MMO comes out? 'Meh, this shit sucks, I'm goin back to WoW/GW/wtfever'. QQ more! The game doesn't suck- YOU do!
And that's what makes gaming what it is today and what is the reason behind the great popularity of MMORPGs- the fact that some 80-90% of the players (I don't care, keep on thinking that you are gamers you WoW fags) have utterly no skill at all. How do the crappy MMORPGs get the crappy players in? By being god damn easy and requiring nothing more from the player than time input!
Feels like looking down from my pool at a bunch of noobs swimming around in a pond of shit below you and thinking that they are having more fun (while having less life) than you do...
@all of the whiney kids above (hi Ara) lack of content?- notice that what everyone is playing right now is an open BETA The huge harshness on death and progression... well welcome to the MMOs in which you actually have to TRY HARD to progress, not just pour time in so that the mill turns (i'm talking about WoW and similar games). If the game seems too hard for you- think again and check if you aren't too crappy for the game instead. PvP can be a lot of different things to do. Certainly there must be much more to it than to your average grindy PvE if that whole reputation system is involved...
YES, i didn't play the game yet, but I've been through quite a bit of games/mods where people complain about whatever they can make up just so that they don't admit that they fail (Fury MMO).
Forget the review: this game is where it is only thanks to the big NCsoft written on each box... PeterD: the fact that there are few MMOs out there without 1,2,3,4,5 combat doesn't mean that there are none and that the existence of 1,2,3,4,5 should be ignored. If you compare Aion to WoW then ofc, it seems a good game but today almost any game compared to WoW is good. Dranaerys: with higher levels the only things that open up in games like Aion are new areas or systems. The gameplay of a PvP(forget the E) orientated game isn't about these, but about the actual combat. 1,2,3,4 is bad and there are MUCH better combat systems in MMORPGs. Example? C9: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0b1V3eapZc And finally to Tom: if the review doesn't affect you then does the knowledge that the game is from NCsoft make you want to play Aion? propkid@mindless.com
If the biggies that produce games like WoW and GuildWars suffer then the other companies making MMOs will benefit. I mean all of the MMOs linked to these companies are *coughs* crap. Argue on email if you disagree, not here.
