EVE Evolved: Getting into PvP from day one

Sep 27th 2010 1:03PM (Massively)
Good article ! With a six year history in EVE, I still remember that being blown up costed a lot of money. And I never left Empire space since then. :) I wished an encouragement like this had come earlier. Now I have to convince my corp mates, who simply enjoy scraping asteroids in their spare time...and we sell shiny ships to the Red vs. Blue war (see above). :)

On the downside, though, worth mentioning that the "end-game" in EVE, where it is about sovereignty in the outer regions of the galaxy, fairly often is about who gets the biggest blob. And that amount of ships freezes my computer to a stand-still.

The Daily Grind: Will Incarna get you to try EVE?

Answer is : yes ! I will be there more. And I appreciate the setting as a glorified chatroom

And I will be looking forward to ways how CCP will pull some game features to station life. Like mission agents perhaps. PvE'ers will naturally be more inclined to walk in stations.

But CCP had already asked for additional features to put into stations for PvP or trade :
- like the corp / alliance briefing room where you might be able to see a space battle on a 3D universe map with tactical info on every ship and its sensor output, like the position of hostile ships.
- trade route viewer and improved AP planning.

This is so going to rock when it hits the market !

For now, I'm playing Rock Star Games for realism. ;)

As we know from Larkonisgate during CSM III, CCP's statistics and revision team keeps transaction logs. That allows "corrective measures" also against those who have already cashed in and got isk from their deliberate exploit of the oversight.

In my corp, Pygalle, we are *trying* to follow a "no ALTs" policy. ALTs kill team work. And even if it reduces our overall turn over a little, it is definitely more rewarding to play the game with real characters instead of ghosts. All the profit goes to the corp wallet in the end, hence we all gain.

If ever we need to cyno - very well, then we'll send a scout team ahead.

What is Blizzard planning for its next MMO?

The Sci-Fi PvP niche is comfortably catered for by CCP's EVE Online. Them releasing news about their FPS off-shoot, called DUST 514, and how it ties-in to their flagship game shows how you can brilliantly dig into a new genre while even capitalizing on previous success.
