I actually kind of disagree. I jumped on a week before the advanced launch and then was able to play ahead of the formal release date. I've found that there is enough free content at lower levels (I'm now a level 3 fighter/1 rogue) that I'm wondering whether the business model they've set up might be too generous. I'm having a good time and might actually consider subscribing, but see no need to as of yet nor have I felt the need to spend money at the online store.
Gamewise, I suspect that this may not be a huge draw. Leveling is slow and lacks the sense of reward and progress I've found in other games. And because experience is based on quests and not kills, sometimes I find myself a little frustrated that some of my efforts fighting monsters is not rewarded. Yet, quests have more character than in WoW. Killing monsters does not automatically benefit my toon. Sometimes, it makes a lot more sense to avoid fights, even ones that I could win. I feel like there's actually an interesting reason for my toon to do the things he does and the presence of traps and secret doors makes the dungeon crawls a little more interesting. Harkens back to NWN in ways that WoW never has. But therein lies the rub. That may not be what most players are interested in. Still, I'm having fun and hope to for some time.
