Hey, it's good to see all the love KoL is getting with this series of articles. By the way, the mechanic for obtaining semi-rare items mentioned above is not tied to the moons; it can however be divined by eating fortune cookies and studying the magic numbers therein. Just remember you can't get two of the same one in a row. And I agree that this mechanic is great because it allows a new player to jumpstart their in-game wealth if they do their research and plan carefully.
Torchlight shares absolutely no code or assets with Mythos, as that game is owned by HanbitSoft now. The reason Runic has been able to develop all this in only a year is simply because there are some very hard-working people on the game.
