The Daily Grind: Which MMO doesn't get the respect it deserves?

Apr 4th 2012 1:30PM (Massively)
@notinterested

"I want to find the moron that decided space combat was not 3 dimensional."

I believe that was Khan Noonien Singh.

Captain's Log Supplemental: Klingon Awareness Week and First Contact Day

Apr 4th 2012 12:11AM (Massively)
It's only going to be available on the days I'm away at PAX East - or traveling to/from it - and I'll have no access to the game?

The nicest thing i can say here is "epic fail."

The Daily Grind: Which MMO doesn't get the respect it deserves?

@Hardcover

I agree with you. STO has the hardest working live team in the industry. Other MMGs regularly patch in new content. STO regularly patches in new features - which give a lot more bang per buck. When they do make new content, they go all-in - with all-new mechanics and level art.

Howsabout another 5000 TERA closed beta keys?

The code Massively's page gave me last time wasn't valid, and now it just keeps giving me that one.

Oh well.

The Soapbox: The inevitable Mass Effect MMO

I disagree with the root thesis that a Mass Effect MMg is "inevitable."

The Daily Grind: How many MMO betas are installed on your machine?

Mar 6th 2012 10:55AM (Massively)
None.

I suspect that's the answer for most people who aren't industry journalists. ;)

The Daily Grind: What MMO have you recently deleted from your hard drive?

Mar 2nd 2012 10:54AM (Massively)
EVE. Every year or two I install it on my hard drive, patch it up, and six months later I delete it without ever loading it up.

I think the last time I actually played it was 2005.

The Daily Grind: Are you playing GW in anticipation of GW2?

Feb 28th 2012 12:26PM (Massively)
I tried GW1 a few times, but I started with the Prophesies campaign, which was apparently a mistake. I found it too dull to get more than a short way into, and quit altogether after about 25 hours. I never got out of Ascalon.

Leaderboard: Lockboxes yea vs. lockboxes nay

Feb 27th 2012 2:33PM (Massively)
Let's call a spade a spade here: lockbox keys are scratch tickets. They're specifically designed to hook compulsive personalities and pump them for cash.

In my opinion, lockboxes are no better than the coercive and extortionate methods used in Zynga games - which are widely reviled by oh-so-enlightened developers of "real games." Money. Mouth. You know how to connect these two, MMG developers.

And speaking of which, I wonder if the states these companies operate in are aware that they're operating what amounts to unlicensed lotteries? I'm sure the state gambling commissions would be *very* interested in that.

The Road to Mordor: Ten things to do in East Bree-land before you die

@Shazzie

Yeah, you're right. I blundered across the Cat Lady's house when I was first exploring Bree. That was... October of 2007, I think? Before the first keg was added to the game, certainly.
