Alganon steals press release from BioWare

May 10th 2010 11:10AM (Massively)
That link, are you joking me? “This was clearly an unintentional oversight and shouldn’t even be news.” You took credit for a statement that was not your own. This is plagiarism. And then to accuse a site of being unprofessional by pointing out your mistake?

“It started with an accusation of plagiarism by a little known blog site. Then it got picked up, completely and unprofessionally transformed by Massively in a news (!) bit no less and accusing Alganon of stealing a press release. Yah.”

Way to get nasty. People get sued over plagiarism. I sincerely doubt this will be the case here, but in the journalism/literary world… it’s a big deal. You don’t get to decide what is news or what gets swept under the rug. That’s up to the masses and the media to decide thankfully. And your apologies mean nothing when you do it with an undertone of disdain and sarcasm.

Korea rules that virtual currencies can be exchanged for real money

Jan 13th 2010 3:24PM (Massively)
So if I'm banned in said game, for any number of EULA's that I violate, can I now sue the gaming company if I have a significant amount of gold on my account? Even if I'm in violation of the EULA a court has said that my gold is "currency". Say I have a million gold, do I deserve the right to obtain that currency so I can sell it? What about a player that is scammed of gold, can I insist that my MMO support see that my currency is returned? How soon would that translate to any of my "assets" such as gear and weapons. I don't understand how they can put a sweeping change in place on virtual items and than not regulate it further. Surely, this can't be the bottom line: "A ruling by the nation's supreme court has stated that virtual currency is the equivalent of real-world money."

Funcom threatening to delete noob Age of Conan characters

Jan 11th 2010 3:18PM (Massively)
That's an interesting move. Only last year I was able to get back one of my characters on Asheron's Call that I haven't played in over 7 years. Was fun to run around for a few months on it. Company got more money from me. Doesn't make sense they would do that.

Account Administration encouraged not to restore hacked characters

Yeah, I think the blog post was to point out how bad it's gotten on both sides. Both the developers and the players. I don't think it was pointing blame at any side. Just humor.

Guild Wars 2 site opens, first trailer revealed

Just saw on http://www.guildwars2guru.com that they've found 7 new concept art pieces. This game is looking incredible. Check out the Charr Sphere they have on that site. Really looks like ArenaNet is merging Sci-Fi with Fantasy here for their new MMO.
