"If you think that EVE has a poor community, start a trial and ask random people to help you out. You'll be surprised by what I think is the friendliest and most tightly knit MMO community on the planet."
Wait, what? I've tried EVE 3 times and each time I'm simply blown away by the nastiness of the community. I can't tell you how many times I got told "Go play WoW" for simply expressing something like liking the graphics in the stations. Eventually I left, went back to WoW, then left that for SWTOR. EVE is not a bad game, but it has by far, the worst community out there. Except for that odd comment - the rest of the article is good. The Goons and Mittani are taking on a tactic common in Iran, China, and other countries - if you don't like what is being written - attack and bully. It makes them look like arses.
I came back for Incarna - and found that the game was still boring...really boring. Boring with very rare flashes of excitement where you find yourself paying someone else subscription cost. Then seeing those same players crying about ship spinning and monocles on the forums.
I disagree with the writer's final thoughts on the motives of those constantly spamming the forums with their complaints. Most of the intent is to see CCP fail, as a punishment for what they felt was a change in the game they did not agree with.
I would love to know who she got in the war room those first few days after the leaked newsletter.
I feel bad for her. MMORPG PR is as hard as something like BP had to go through but with only 1/50th of the pay that their PR firm got. Legion of forum trolls screaming for an end to item store is a lot like Greenpeace demanding BP to stop drilling for oil. There are some activist groups that simply cannot be influenced.
Someone post the article - especially about the part about the funny exploits discovered by players.
and to the person who said that I should just hop on a train and get the game in another country. Tried that. Bought my game in Turkey. I got arrested coming back over the border. In interrogation, I tried to help the police catch the guy who sold the game to me. We found him in a nearby market. He was a cab driver and he ran when I pointed him out. I was sentenced to four years and two months' imprisonment I was sent to Sağmalcılar prison to serve out my sentence. After trial I was ordered to serve 30 years. Bribery, violence and insanity ruled the prison. It was a living hell, much like what reading EVE Online forums is like. My girlfriend came to see me and left me a scrapbook with money in it. I was committed to the prison's insane asylum. I tried to bribe a guard to take me to the sanitarium where there were no guards but he took me past the sanitarium to another room where he tried to make me his girlfriend. I ended up in mortal pvp with him, pwned him took his uniform and escaped by walking through the front door. I crossed the border into my home country 3 weeks later. &*&% U EA!
I have no lag. I figure the people complaining are running EVE on Vic-20s. CCP in fact, has made a huge improvement over lag in the last several months...but you won't hear that from the gangster elite.
I'm personally tired of the QQs and hope the constant forum trolls quit and go back to WoW.
The CAPT quarters isn't great but it's nice and it certainly isn't terrible.
Two posters here used the scientific term "Nobody." It's not nobody and it's not even a majority. It's a vocal minority that needs to get tasered every time they rant and rave during public discussions about the GD "Door" and "Monocles"
