Of course you are. Massively has always been about hate, and hate is the easiest to blindly follow.
When I first came here a couple years ago to see "what else is out there", the hate for wow was atrocious. They even stopped reporting on it. It was the "in thing" to trash the game.
Now the "in thing" is to trash the next big AAA theme park mmo. On Massively, you are cool if you hate theme park MMOs. You are cool if you hate successful MMOs. You are cool if you love the little guy (deserved or undeserved).
Being constantly negative about MMOs is sad, short sighted, childish, and borderline trolling for page clicks.
Your readers pick up on it, and spread the crap around. Then the community goes straight to hell. You need look no further then the comments surrounding the last swtor post.
Will definitely buy box/download. Not sure I'll have a long term subscription, but hey, I'm going in with low expectations so I might be pleasantly surprised!
Everyone feels like their 60 bucks entitles them to the world. These types of people will _never_ be happy with any game. So their opinion is easily disregarded.
I'm having a tonne of fun in this game. I'm excited to see the improvements over time, but what they have now is very enjoyable. I'm going to keep subbing.
I agree swtor isn't perfect. I do disagree a bit with the re-play value (I'm itching to re-roll the same character but play a dark side, for example), but I understand it certainly isn't for everyone. Those people who only want to PVP or run instances have to somehow get through all the cut scenes to do that. I get that.
All I'm saying is, there is definitely a group of us who like the Lore, Story, and Leveling up experience. Any new mmo that comes out with the typical XP bar/quest to level up paradigm probably needs to look at the new reality.
It is perfectly acceptable for them to say "meh, the players we want won't read the story anyways, so who cares"... and that's fine. But then one would wonder why they'd bother with Lore at all. Just add generic content and move on.
