Other than pointing out their definition of a 'virtual' economy is off, the only thing I did comment on was what you said seemed questionable. So, overracting? You can call it questionable, but I can't?
I think its funny how they define virtual and simulated economies and then claim their's is a virtual economy. Uh....no. Its simulated, just like others.
And do you really think enough people are going to pay real life money for the ability to train, so all the other's who want to pay in game money to train? LOL. NOPE! This is going to be soooo lopsided. People will quit because they can't buy training or the training will cost outrageous amounts.
I think just about everyone involved in this story, especially the company, has their heads subplanted into their oval orafice. Pathetic on all levels.
Great story. That is quite an achievement for anyone who has played EQ2, knows. EQ2 has elements in it that put just about any other mmo to shame. Housing, decorating, and fluff is one of those areas. I wish more mmos did housing as well. The only other one that comes close is UO. I loved how in Tenebrous I could 'break out' of my house and have my own private island to decorate as I wanted, complete with boat dock and all.
I played DDO when it first came out and didn't like it. However, I checked it out again about 2 months ago and found that it was really fun. I'm enjoying the game quite a bit now. I'm glad they are continuing to put more spit and polish in it.
1) Have you ever played pathfinder or any other table top RPG for that matter? If you have how many times have you played your game in a giant auditorium where other games are going on at the same time and are allowed to just come over and sabatoge or pvp your group while your on a quest? NONE. Because thats not the nature of the game. Sure the GM simulates those possibilities, but the GM uses common sense and restraint to not ruin the game for his players. In open PVP ffa that restraint or common sense does not exist.
2) How many open pvp ffa games do really well or are considered top tier? How many go under? Whats the ratio? Is Eve really the only success story you can point to? Funny, never played Eve. Never will. I'm sure most people feel the same way. Which is why this game will never be more than a nitch game and then eventually lose people and fail. Eve had very little competition when it comes to the space opera genre when it came out. So its got a small base. But it will never be a top shelf mmo.
Well this game is dead anyways until they ditch their free for all pvp griefing system they plan to go with. So anything else they say beyond that simply doesn't matter. Fix the open pvp grief system and then I'll take this game seriously.

Interresting, sounds just like politics to me.
