DCUO video shows off new combat

Jun 8th 2010 1:25PM (Massively)
I probably wouldn't have any interest in this game if it weren't for the PS3 version. If the two versions are playing on the same server and I don't need to buy the game twice though I'd give it a shot even though I don't care for superheroes.

DCUO video shows off new combat

Skip to 3 mins. Technically it's possible. In their closed beta they have PC and PS3 players playing together. But for "business" reasons they're not sure if that'll be possible in the live version.

The Daily Grind: Who's your MMO mistress?

Jun 8th 2010 1:13PM (Massively)
I've heard good things about Kingdom of Loathing from people I've played other MMOs with in the past. But I myself have never tried a browser-MMO. Probably never will.

Is Free Realms a browser-based MMO though? I thought that game ran with a standalone client.

The Daily Grind: How would you make a D&D MMO?

May 26th 2010 9:10AM (Massively)
Seems kind of a silly idea. D&D doesn't have the cachet it once did, and all the mildly compelling settings are dead. Why pay for a license for a generic setting and a rule system? That seems really quite foolish. I mean surely someone will do it, but I don't see it happening for a long time.

Turbine announces LotRO Welcome Back Week

They've got some weird billing system. I tried to pick up LoTRO a year or two ago through their online system, bought the game but could never make an account. Oh well.

Sony Online Entertainment introduces $25 mount [Updated]

Yeesh, seems priced much too high. I might consider buying something frivolous like this if it were much cheaper. As for moral objections or whatever? Nah I think it's great. It's a regressive tax similar to the lottery that targets the dumbest amongst us to give everyone benefits.

What could the PS3 bug mean for console MMOs?

Mar 1st 2010 8:40PM (Massively)
And it's already over. So I don't know. There is a very legitimate concern that people leave games over technical issues. But there's not a big overlap with those people and the people who complain the loudest.

The Daily Grind: Feeling jaded on MMOs?

Feb 28th 2010 3:19PM (Massively)
I just feel as a genre there's no real impetus to develop a really tight gaming experience from beginning to end, unlike traditional games. It's all about keeping people in the game and using the same old tricks to hit a player's reward centers. So while that worked great for the first or second MMO you played, you quickly started drying out the market. Traditional games are evolving so fast on a year to year basis on things like storytelling, approachability, and gameplay. Even great games from five years back feel archaic. That simply doesn't hold true at all for MMOs.

Phantasy Star Universe to shut down PS2 & PC servers

Even PSO/0 fans hated PSU. No big loss here.
