@DiscordSK Speaking of compromises for PS3, Smedley said "This game is built from the ground up to be playable on both the PlayStation 3 and PC, so it really makes a big difference as opposed to just porting it"
Which sounds like bollocks to me given the finished product.
Re Costume Creator. Is it indeed possible that the game designers sat down and thought "Hmmm, given the back story to the game we'll definately have to restrict the costume options at the start"?
Yeeeah right.
Can you do a comedy routine about how shallow the game is next time? There's surely a story/design reason there somewhere...
If you take away the fact that it's Star Trek, it's really not a very good game. It was developed in a very short time and it shows, so much seems unfinished and it's pretty shallow.
Not a die hard trekkie but certainly a fan. A shame they didn't do much better, but then I'm sure as long as it makes money they won't be too bothered.
Said it all when they announced they were doing a NWN MMO and dubbed it an 'OMG'. My sentiments exactly.
OMG! was the first thing I thought when I heard Cyptic had got their hands on NWN. Ironic that that's how they're referring to the game.
Atari must be desperate for a fast buck and let's be honest, Cryptic's super fast development / super lack of content with added C Store $$$'s fits the bill perfectly.
It's about time Cryptic changed their name to Ker-ching! interactive. Half finished, over priced games and if there was some way for them to sell you their mother at a profit, I'm sure they would.
Interesting debate. Ironic that many of the posters championing the changes based on how great the LOTRO community is are the ones flaming those that disagree.
I doubt personally the changes meant that LOTRO was failing, rather that they feel sure they can make more money with this business model. If that ultimately means they spend more money on development then the game should certainly benefit.
As soon as they made it that you HAVE to purchase additional character slots in order to sample all the classes/factions in the game, despite the overall lack of content anyway, they went back on their 'nothing that can't be earned in game' bollocks about microtransactions.
