So the original WoW Collector's edition featured an art book - in that book was a city, if I recall, roughly shaped like a squid with the tentacles extending into the water. Once upon a time I chanced onto a private server at the request of a friend who took me to a hidden area in the world and lo, and behold, among other things was this self-same city, but without any textures in place. I was going to try to post a picture from the artbook, but nojoy finding it. I think that could have been really fun.
Wow...Go Turbine...I've been thinking about playing LOTRO again! Hopefully Santa Massively will put lifetime sub keys in my stockings for Christmas. :)
Properly managed this game could have really been something. This game had such potential and I loved how it felt so different than the other MMOs out there, but was just as fun (at least near the end). Frankly I never felt it got the chance to reach it's potential. Most new-ish MMOs aren't all that awesome until they've gotten some time under their belt. I hope someday someone buys the rights to it and re-releases it, even if they have to release it as micro-transaction.
I wanted to love this game, but I couldn't get achieve 'immersion-point' as I call it, that point where you get sucked in and are just thinking about the game. Lag spikes, clunky interfaces, lo-fi graphics all compete for a top reason why.
I did find the first bit of the story compelling, though. If it does end up growing slowly like EVE did, I'd be willing to give it a go in another 2 years and see if those immersion-breaking flaws had been removed.
Like a few other people, though, I'm resting my hopes on Earthrise.
It's nProtect that gives you the 124 error. I've had the same issue with other MMOs that use nProtect. Typically you have to add an exception to the applications list for that game in your antivirus software. In my case I was using a free antivirus software that didn't let me do it and I uninstalled the antivirus software to check and that fixed it.
If that doesn't fix it for you, you may need to reinstall - corrupted installations can also cause the error.
