The Road to Mordor: A soldier to call my very own

Mar 18th 2012 5:54PM (Massively)
Be nice if you mentioned some of the other side effects of the newest update, like the crushing latency at load lines, still bugged Warden traits, reverted lootbox tables, still bugged Drachioch runs, etc, etc, etc
So much so that 'Fast Travel' leaves you stranded.
Yeah, probably petty, but you know, I start to look at the patch lists from developers across the board (and I admit, I do like Turbine's cheeky whit in their notes), and wonder exactly how much will be broken in the process?
Let's face it, Turbine excels in muffing up so much with each update, it is best to take a week off between patches. DDO was always abysmal on patch days to the point of rage quitting from potential players. Worst part is that they tend to work at glacial swiftness to actually remediate things.
Honestly, I am new to LotR:O, and really enjoying it (to the point that they have me and the wife's money), but one more craptastic, unstable patch, and I am just going to give up on throwing money at these MMO developers that just cannot for the life of them manage their own Code.

I suppose I am asking too much, but if I rolled back data, I would be in the soup line. Oh, well.
Ironic point: I am actually typing this response as I am lagging and relogging yet again in Forochel - hahaha - good times.

Not So Massively: Diablo III faces competition as it enters closed beta

Sep 12th 2011 8:36PM (Massively)
Good, bad, or indifferent, D3 is the known commodity in the list, and is going to crush it on release.
Battlechest is still selling today in decent numbers, why would D3 be any different?
And honestly, I'll be picking it up - way too much sentimentality from this old fool to miss the next installment, and as much as I want to hate on the big boy, Bliz can deliver.
Now if Ironlore could be brought back to life for Titan Quest 2....

Hyperspace Beacon: That can be arranged

Social aspects can also alienate a large potential player base depending on how things are handled.
Many would like to play a good game with constant development, dynamic events, and a persistant feel, which leaves them with the MMO market over stand alone products. They may not, however, need some surrogate life or pretend social dynamic.

More than anything Bioware should concentrate on making a good game, and something true to their vision. If it works, people will come, and if they want, they can experience it together.

I think we have all seen what happens when developers listen too much to portions of their fanbase or cater to heavily to a supposed vocal majority. Here's hoping Bioware is better than that on all counts, and I for one am eager to experience their final product.

Lifetime subscriptions fly back to Champions Online

Nov 12th 2010 12:06PM (Massively)
I went to their page to receive a charge of $300 for the Lifetime Sub, but come to find out,
they wanted ME to pay THEM...I was shocked.... :P

Only thing Cryptic about this company at this point is how they can possibly sit with balls that big

Pirates of the Burning Sea expansion delayed

Really?
Not a single comment all day?
Lol. Guess that kinda says it all for poor Failing Labs Studios and the Burned Out Seas.
Alas, me hearties, I remember what was, and what could have been... :(

Rumor: Atari close to announcing a Neverwinter Nights MMO

Aug 10th 2010 11:59AM (Massively)
@Mike:
And what mistake would they be learning when, as you say above, you are renewing your subscription?
As long as consumers will pay for what Cryptic is offering, that is what they will continue to produce; and another profile name like Dungeons and Dragons is likely to bring them money regardless of how shallow, undeveloped, and unsupported the final product becomes. (same as STO)

Want them to learn? Don't support their work with your money or time.
(Any bets on when the $300 lifetime subs are announced? Next week maybe?)

New DDO screenshot gives first look at Update 6

All fishy discussions aside:
Great that they are adding new content, especially so soon after the last update.
buuuuuuuuuuut
maybe...just maybe...
They should fix the freaking mess they made with Update 5.
Seriously. Glad they are getting so much attention, but wow has QA gone in the toilet at Turbine lately.
