The Summoner's Guidebook: Why you shouldn't always buy Deathcap on LoL casters

EA reveals SWTOR subscription and sales numbers, beats financial predictions [Updated]
Feb 1st 2012 10:53PM (Massively)There are a couple possibilities, and I honestly haven't read the entirety of the source but;
It has been over a month, so there are certainly some who bought and played the game for their 30 days and did not pay beyond their free 30 days.
Also, units sold could mean simply what went to retailers, not specifically how many went to customers.
A common miconception is that you subscribe to get your 30 days in any mmo, but the reality is you haven't subscribed, until you've been charged a month, though they are a little wishy washy with that definition here.
The Daily Grind: When does a clever loophole become a bannable exploit?
Jan 7th 2012 12:55PM (Massively)People always try to duck responsibility by claiming they aren't a mind reader. It's a shallow excuse at best to claim ingnorance in such matters.
If you've gone through half the leveling content of an MMO and have somewhere around 40k gold, then find that double clicking your avatars head as you sell a stack of trash listed at 2 silver a piece and you get 500k gold, you know full well and good it's a mistake. Now that in itself shouldn't be bannable, even after repeating it two or three times to find out that it's reproduceable. The bannable offense comes in the exploitation of the bug.
The same rules apply in real life, I'm not sure why people think it's suddenly void in a game played cooperatively and competitively by thousands of players. Anonymity should not change the integrity of the individual.
Look at it from a parenting perspective; the reason children are taught to discern right and wrong, and the use of proper judgement is because it's an impossibility to account for every possible variation of lifes experiences.
The enitre thought process behind blaming the devs for the exploitation of bugs is a major reason I've become ashamed to be recognized as a gamer as I've aged. There's simply no way a team of 100 people can deal with millions of lines of code and hundreds of thousands people ,if not more, using it in possibly billions of combinations, and have there be zero game breaking or damaging exploits. Yet people have the audacity to complain that games aren't in depth(read complicated) enough, take too long, break too easily, me, me, me, me. If a studios game box sprouted legs, walked on water and stumbled a bit people would complain.
SWTOR beta participants log one meeeeellion hours of testing
Nov 16th 2011 3:01PM (Massively)In all honesty does the NDA matter anymore? The game launches in a month, so unless you're a regular tester there's really not much incentive for a weekend tester to not just leak as much info as they can, as they're only going to have maybe one or two more play weekends before they own the game and can play as much as they like.

Nov 8th 2011 12:56PM (Massively)I used to do this, just jot it down in the manual.
I don't really buy boxes anymore though.

Nov 8th 2011 12:53PM (Massively)How long has it been out?
Cause Bill may not have stolen it but it sure seems like Apple might have.
Mykeepass been doing it for at least a few years, and was released to the appstore in 2009.

Nov 8th 2011 12:52PM (Massively)5 minutes can sometimes be a quarter of my gaming time, which changes the perspective a little bit.
Secondly, there are very few situations where taking another five minutes to redo something I've already done correctly is desired.
Tell you what, next time you're at an ATM, input your pin, get to your account info, then cancel eject your card and do it all again. Repeat for 5 minutes, just so the bank can be extra sure you keyed in those 4-8 numbers correctly.
You're right, the password change isn't the biggest deal. An irritation really. Thus I'm not claiming to drop my pre-order and burn effigies of the Docs.

Nov 8th 2011 12:46PM (Massively)I use an app on my iphone called Mykeepass. It's basically just a password protected database that holds all your passwords for you. Iliminates the need to memorize more than one password at least.
It's 0.99 cents on the iphone, or you can DL it for free I think for the PC (If you have both you can sync them). I chose the phone so I'd always have it with me, and between my phone lock, and the ability to wipe all data remotely should it ever go missing I'm fairly comfortable with the security of it. Might not want to trhow your SIN or banking info on it but for things like video games it's a must have.

Nov 8th 2011 12:35PM (Massively)We could also look at DNA testing through blood samples, but then again, you can get a fingerprint scanner for what 20-40 bucks?
There's plenty of alternatives that are far more secure, accesibility would have to be a major concern if you were say, going to start a business that offered this service for online identification.

Nov 7th 2011 9:08PM (Massively)That's actually a great idea. Hmmm....
Using a standard USB fingerprint scanner and having a website that interacts with numerous other sites with said data. Similar to Verisign or Intereac.
